Suggestion: Go to www.hunter.com, click on contact Hunter & see who local sales & service reps are. They should be able to recommend a local shop with the right equipment & mentality to align classic cars, there is a big difference in shops!!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: GT500 Tach to MSD tach adapter
« on: April 17, 2020, 09:37:11 AM »
I have MSD 6AL & distributors on 3 vehicles (one of them for around 30 years). Had a pickup coil in distributor go bad once, but zero other problems. I really like to be able to change timing curve without removing distributor, plus rev limiter etc as Royce mentioned. Rev limiter is a plus when you run your as stuff hard as I do!  :D  Not sure if 67 & 69 tach wiring is the same, but 2 of mine (69 GT350 & 69 Boss 429) are used with factory tachs & I wired without butchering factory wiring. Been 15-20 years ago but I think I have notes/schematics about how I did it if you are interested.

All GM dealers are required to have a Hunter Road Force Elite due to truck vibration problems. Here is some info plus a locator to find a tire store near you that has one:
https://www.hunter.com/wheel-balancers/road-force-elite

It is not only is a balancer but a diagnostic tool that analyzes & identifies the problem in a wheel & tire assembly.
And yes I am a Hunter sales rep lol, but I personally saw the difference it makes over standard balancing long before I became a rep!

mikeh, thanks for your reply, and the additional photos of the Curry car. Wayne Curry also had CSX3201 at some point.

Mike

1st pic is CSX3201 with the black drag raced 68 GT500 on the left and KK1660 on the right. Second is a pic I took at a local Mustang show before I met Wayne around 1980-81. Note the plate, WC3201. 3rd is me sitting in it (barely) in 2016 a few hours before transport picked it up & took to CA. (widow sold it)

I was running 11.60s with basically stock 428CJ with LR 2x4 intake and a big solid flat tappet cam. Really good converter and 4.57s. Pump gas, drove to & from strip most of the time. Runs decent for what it is! Still have car.

Wayne was running low 11s, 427 TP with C6 and a lot of gear. RIP Wayne, thanks for the memories buddy!!

good, simple times for sure!

This is(was) Wayne's, (#326) on the way to Charlotte for the Mustang 30th in 1994. Somewhere in the Smoky Mountains, 4 of us in car so no room for a spare tire!!

Car had something like 275xxx miles on it. Supposed to be Silver Jade, somewhere in Louisiana last I heard about it.

This is Wayne & me in my 428CJ 68 fastback racing at St Louis International in late 80s early 90s

I guess he had to have top up there for safety lol

Better pic of my car, same track different day.
