CSX 2000 Series / 63 Cobra 289 HIPO
February 22, 2024, 08:10:48 PM
OK here is the question. I bought a 289 HIPO back in the early 80's that was stated to be out of a 63 Cobra, the motor was complete with Webbers and HIPO heads so I bought it. I was not as familiar with the differences on the HIPO and the standard 289 at that time. I took the guys word for it. Over the years I sold the Webbers and the HIPO heads but kept the short block. Now here is the question. The block has the HIPO crank, rods and pistons but the main caps are not the big ones. The block is a April 63 build date and a number stamped on the block on the left bank tab is 3D 196. Did the early HIPO blocks have the bigger main caps? Is this just a standard 289 block with HIPO parts inside?  Thanks

I am still working on 2380 and slowly gathering parts, any suggestions on the correct front suspension parts?

Wanted to Buy / Re: 1968 Shelby woodgrain

I have the wood-grain for the instrument bezel, real wood. Bought it about 40 years ago for my 68 and never used it. It came in a heavy paper tube about 4" in diameter. Still in it.

I have a 68 KR ram air hood that I have had for 40+ years. It has some damage from an accident in the front but it's an easy fix.  It is a Lime Gold original with original paint. PM me if you want pictures. Make me an offer or I'll trade it for a April 64 HPO block.   Thanks

Parts For Sale / Re: 66 Shelby Aluminum T10

He must have removed it, it was listed under Borg Warner 4 speed rebuilt. The one he pictured was a cast iron 4 speed but in the ad he stated he had an aluminum Borg Warner for a 66 Shelby that he was rebuilding and going to list for sale.

I think it is a late 64 Cobra early 65 GT350. I am sure someone out there knows more than I do. I am going by the S1 part number.

Parts For Sale / 65 427 Center Oiler Short Block
September 04, 2019, 08:07:16 PM
I just picked up a 65 Center Oiler 427. The motor had 61 HiPo 390- heads on it and tri -power. It was a good  running engine when I bought it two weeks ago. I tore it down to the short block to see how it looked. It is a standard bore with 427 low riser pistons and rods. The crankshaft is a 63 390. The block has never been broke or repaired and has very low running time on it. I believe it will clean up standard as there is no ridge on the top of the cylinders. The cast date is 5B9 $3500.00 plus shipping e-mail me for more pictures. r17531@comcast.net
I also have a complete 1964 406 std. motor complete from the tri power to the pan, distributor to the flywheel $7000.00 , a 69 428 C.J. motor complete rebuild  $8000.00, a Micky Thompson Cross Ram with the AFB carbs and linkage $1200.00 .
