The Lounge / CJ Pony exits Mustang parts
« on: April 01, 2020, 02:19:31 PM »
Received a video today about CJs not continuing with Stang parts, on to Jeep and off road. The sources are dwindling.

The grinding is associated with both left and right turns and can be felt in the car. No noise is heard or felt in a straight line. Any help would be great.

Did this just start or did you just get the car and it has this issue?

Does this also happen in reverse?

If also in reverse and you just got the car I would say someone put a Detroit L in it.

Can it be painted over?

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: 1965 VINís

I'll ask about this story I've heard since this conversation about 65 VINs is on going. A local Shelby member purchased a 65 fastback K code built in San Jose that is painted pale yellow. He says that this car was destined for SA because its VIN is in a block of VINs of others that went to SA. But someone needed a yellow car for a special order so this one was pulled and finished. I'm thinking he got this story from the PO. How could that ever be proven?

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: 68 GT350 Power Brake Issue
« on: December 13, 2019, 11:06:48 AM »
I'll be waiting to hear how this is solved!

Had a 67 Cougar that did the same thing. Great power brakes if you pushed slowly. Had Dewey rebuild the booster and got a another rebuild booster/MC from NAPA and still the same problem. Tried vacuum pump and tank (20in.), power bleeding. Never fixed, sold the car.

Expanding on the topic; was the fender caulk a hit or miss thing? Over the years the Mustangs/Cougars I've had most did not have the caulk. Maybe an assembly plant thing? I mostly had Dearborn cars. Since some were from the early 70s I don't think the caulk was removed. A collector has some Shelbys from different restorers and not all have the caulk.

Inquiring minds..

Thanks for the info. I had looked at two R2s for sale over the last few months and the driven unit (pump) looked different on each. I asked one owner what to do if the 'pump' failed and he said there are Stude parts places or you could use a Shelby unit. I thought I should ask those who know to verify the seller.

This car and its condition reminds me of a 4 speed KR that was sitting in a warehouse here in Northern Ohio for decades. It along with two K code fastbacks were always going to be restored by the owner. Unfortunately this past spring a fatal heart attack got in the way. A very tacky situation occurred at the funeral home where several strangers showed up to give the widow their phone numbers to offer top price for the Shelby. She finally sold the car to the son's friend that runs a body shop. Original trans but no engine - $41K.

Curiosity question. Is this SN-60/Shelby supercharger the same as the one on a 64 Avanti R2?

Engineering number

Thanks Pete.

I should have been more specific. I have seen this red ink with and without the 260821 number. First time seeing the circle 26. Mostly have seen black ink both large and small font. Trying to find out what's the correct stamping.

What is the correct part # inking on a starter delay?

This may be the Shelby where the driver side exhaust manifold bangs the shock tower on a hard rev. He blows this off that this happened with a bunch of Mustangs with 'SCJs' because the metal was sloppy aligned and assembled. It tells me the shock tower got pushed in because of accident or rust. If you see the owners usual lack of shock when they look at the bill I have to believe the TV show is picking some or all of the cost.
