Ok, looks like my bud won't be buying the car.  That's all right, I will plan to put it on Bat, which I've had some real good luck at.  Unless anyone here has interest.

I know this is kind of an asinine question.  Because I know the answer is, "it depends".  And I have done no research yet. But I think guys here do have a good idea about real life values of their cars.  I want to sell my car to a friend.  I want to give him a good deal, but not give the car away.  So, here are the facts: I've owned it since 2010. 56,000 original miles, original drive train, top loader rebuilt by David Key, no work to engine though runs well, Acapulco Blue, saddle interior, interior is all original & in nice shape except the front seats have been recovered and new carpet.  Lot's of stuff done to breaks, suspension and car has been repainted - very nicely.  Original owner owned it up till 2000, so have a lot of original documentation plus Marti.  If you just take my word for it that the car, condition wise, is 2 to 2-.
I'm interested in your feedback.  Thanks.

I absolutely concur with all you guys, and I'm sure most any experienced car collector does: have to lay your own eyes on the
car prior to purchase.

I just felt compelled to respond to your request with a not quite satisfactory experience I had.  About ten years ago I hired a gentleman to do a pre-purchase inspection of a 1968 GT350.  Flew him to St. Louis, put him up in a motel, paid for a real nice dinner and paid his fee.  I also met him in St. Louis.  Well, the whole affair went pretty good and I did purchase the car.  But part of the service was to prepare a written report of the inspection and send it to me.  The gentleman simply refused to ever provide the written report, even after I had made numerous requests.  His name:  Bill Collins.  I have always wondered why Bill would not perform.  So I don't recommend hiring him.

Well, sad to hear it.  It was a great forum with a ton of info.  At least I did get Tony Gregory's 4th edition of his book.  Still have and love my 65 convertible K code   :)  Caspian Blue.  Charles Turner might remember it.

Hey guys,  is the hipomustang.com web site out of business?  Or did it change its web address?  Been a long time member but hadn't accessed it for a while.  Appreciate any update.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Oil Pressure & Alternator Gauges
« on: December 05, 2018, 03:59:04 PM »

Hey Guys, I have a 68 GT350, four speed.  My alternator gauge has stopped working.  Does any vendor make a nice reproduction?  Thought I might replace the Oil Pressure too as long as we had to tear into the console.  Thanks so much for your help.

Hey Bill Collins; thank you very much.  And what a fine coincidence.  This particular Shelby is the Acapulco Blue one that you inspected for me in St. Louis at the boat dealership back in 2010.  Still love the car.  We put a 5 speed Tremec in the car back then, but I just didn't like it.  So had David Key rebuild the top loader and are now putting it back in.  Hope all is well with you.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Speedo Gear Question
« on: November 27, 2018, 08:27:47 PM »

Hey guys, I have a 68' GT350 and I am putting the original top loader back in.  We can't find the original speedo gear.  Wondering what gear came on the car.  Rear gear is 3.89 and am running 15" Goodyears.  Any help would be really appreciated.  Thanks.
