1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Choke cable mounting position
December 18, 2020, 09:27:40 AM
Does anyone have a good picture of the exact position the choke cable is mounted under the dash on a 67 GT350?   Most pictures show it under the heater controls but are too far away to see what exact holes are used.

Thanks.

The article has useful and interesting information but also has some information that is not accurate. You should have the Cobra sticker in the front and a small sticker in the back on the 67 GT350. NPD sells a repro of the small sticker on pg 325  . Part number D-122. The Autoite sticker and or the HIPO sticker were not typically used. FYI the Cobra sticker was also used on the 428 MKIII Cobra single four barrel Hipo type aircleaner .

I think you meant to type D-112 for the C7 ('67) part,

not D-122 for the D1 ('71) boss 351 part?

Thanks JD . I amended my typo.

In the above post(s) Bob adjusted to the D-112 part number.

Image of correct sticker is the top one in Reply #7 above, and it is shown on the lid with the COBRA sticker 180 degrees away in the second image in reply #1, as Bob G stated.

And yes, I think the sheet maybe incorrect

I was going throug the SAAC Convention 43 judging rules for the 67 and on page 8 it states under Engine Compartment Decals "GT350 - Autolite Spark Plug Decal and Cobra Power by Ford decal on air cleaner"   Is this an error? I went with the D-122 (Part number) decal as you specified, not the Autolite Plug decal.

Thanks JD.  I made the same typo!  I used the D-112 not the D-122.  I corrected my original reply.

Should the Autolite sticker be there, 180deg from the COBRA sticker?

Pictured in this article, that explicitly says you can share this link in forums.

November 23, 2020, 10:18:39 AM
Burton Antique Auto Parts has the door panel and dash inserts made of real stainless with the backing.  Much better than the other reproductions.   EDIT - Not sure why I said stainless, I meant brushed aluminum.

Not all housings had the same markings. You are better off with none at all then something that was wrong . For instance in concours you are not deducted for not having a assemblyline marking however if you put something there you had better be able to document that it was there on a 67 Shelby . Also if a obscure seldom seen type marking and given they typically did not all get markings you may get push back to provide reasonable documentation that it was used on your specific car (pre restoration photos etc.). Just because it was on one 67 Shelby car doesn't necessarily mean it should be on your car.  I would be most concerned about the proper historical components on the housing. For instance I see that you are missing the rear brake line strap and the rear axle tube ID paper tag. Those things were on all of 67 production.I think Dead nut on sells both.

I just checked with Jack at Dead Nuts On and he does not have the paper tags for 67 Mustang/Shelby. He did say if he has the numbers he could make them.

Was the fiberglass repro taillight panel on the car prior to restoration? What was on it before or did you get disassembled?

I am fairly certain it is an original panel.  Both it and the buckets were still attached to the car when it was purchased. Tail lights were missing.  Picture of the back of the car as found.  We had to fill the mounting holes as many were cracked.  I will re-drill them once everything is fit back together.
The before tail panel picture looks different then the restored tail panel picture at the trunk opening lip area . Has the panel been changed since the picture was taken or has the panel been modified?

Not exactly sure what you are comparing but here is a picture of the same part after paint.   As stated earlier mounting holes were repaired and will be drilled once everything lines up.
