Having spent the winter and most of the summer correcting the ... ummm ... best intentions of experts, it is now back together and running great. Though the distributor (original) could use a rebuild and perhaps an electronic module, I hate points ... next summer.

And before anyone mentions it, I only sent the body guy six pictures of where the fender emblems were supposed to go. I think he's blind. If you seen the paint you would think so too. The question was would I rather have them on but in the wrong spot or take the off and have mark on the fenders. Body alignment, Paint (much better paint) & Decals next year.

Regardless, here it is for your perusal.

Your foot is nailed to the floor, so to speak, at least until the warranty is done. Regardless, here are the results of some research I did on the subject. The objective was what ??w40 oil had the best ZDDP values. Most motor oils today are 800ppm and less. The manufacturers argue that the oils are so much better today you don't need as much ZDDP. Okay said I and promptly starting looking.

Red line synthetic motorcycle oil    (my choice)  10w40 zinc=2125ppm,phophorus=2100ppm,molybenum=425ppm.
Mobile One  Racing 4T        10w40 (ZDDP=1700)
Royal Purple XPR                10w40 (ZDDP=1500-1600ppm)
Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel Truck  5w40 (ZDDP=1300)
Mobile 1 Formula M              5W40 (ZDDP=1100)

The parts catalogue has arrived. It is exactly as described, being a Manuals/book in two parts. Lots of good information in it and it will be very useful. I'm glad I got it.

Now the down side. While I wasn't expecting a fully hyperlinked text or a lot of fancy gizmos ... It sure would have been nice to have it searchable <sigh>  It would sure cut down on the time it takes me to find stuff. But I am getting better and quicker as I do more with it.

Oh well, giant PDFs of JPGs it is. Good thing I have a big monitor.

Once again I am indebted to the folk in the forum, thanks for your help.

Good day folks. Once again I come seeking the collective wisdom of the group.

I have a good set of shop manuals, a good set of assembley manuals (reprints), an expanded view manual, Shelby specific suplemental manuals and an old 1973 Motors manual which has some surprising info in it. Still not enough.

Assembly and expanded view manuals all show the parts right down to the tiny detail.  However, none of them have a usuable part number. For example, the expanded view manual shows a head bolt as #6065. How do I translate that number into useful information like a description (ie 3" x 5/16" or whatever ) and a real part number.

Is all of that sort of information within the 1975 Ford Master Parts Catalogue?

If so, is there a prefered format or producer? I found a CD version at Hi Pro Parts Garage (link below) does any one know if this is a decent version.

Thanks for your help

Thanks ever so much folks.

I suspected they were for some special piece. Most items are fairly obvious where they go but for some speciality stuff it is difficult to identify especially when you don't have your disassembly notes and pictures. Fortunately I don't have too many unidentified parts left :-)

Thanks again for your help.

Does anyone recognize where these parts were used. I can't recall where they came from and all my pics and notes walked away with my computer when it was liberated.

Thanks, hope you can help.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Extra parts
January 26, 2018, 11:13:09 AM

I don't know why it happens but whenever I take something apart I always end up with extra parts. I took my 1970 GT500 apart and now I am putting my  back together (almost done ... yipeeeee) and naturally I have some left over parts. The rebuild and assembly continues and I'm coming down to the final moments. That being, a final paint, decal installation and then a final clear coat. Now I was pretty careful to photograph (digital), bag and tag everything when I was taking it apart and back up the photographs to a second computer.

However, before I could commit a number photographs to DVD, some socialist decided that my property needed to be liberated and walked off with all the computers in the house which including my photographs and their backup.

Now I find myself with some parts that I recognize as coming from my car but cannot remember where they belong and don't have the documentary evidence to help me. And as I mentioned the car is substantially together with the exception of some door panel parts so they are not critical to the operation but I would sure like to know where they go. So I asking the help of the members here if they recognize what they are and where they go and would help me by sharing that info with me. Photographs of said parts in their home would be a bonus.

I have included some pictures of the left overs, please have a look and help me if you are able and would be so kind.

Thank you all in advance.
