Thanks. I didn't realize they posted that way!

The Cougar II has an early experimental 260 engine, very likely the original engine that came in CSX 2008 upon which the Cougar II is built.
I examined the Cougar II and it doesn't appear that it ever ran after being converted from CSX 2008. This is based on the fact that the exhaust system was never connected to the tail pipes and there are no mufflers. See the attached photo of the tail pipes.  There are 363 miles on the original speedometer/odometer so someone did a little cruising before it was converted to the Cougar II.

The Bordinat Cobra is built on the chassis of CSX 3001. It has a 6 bolt 289 engine with a very unusual exhaust system layout. The exhaust exits the engine toward the front of the car and then the exhaust pipes course down INTO the frame rails! See the attached photo.
They exit the frame rails toward the rear of the car and are connected to the tail pipes. This car did run because there is exhaust soot on the rear valence adjacent to the exhaust tips.

The Shelby parts book lists C5AE-9350-G as the pump for Shelby 427 Cobras. However, it doesn't list a manufacturer or a model number.
My 1967 Ford Master Parts catalog lists AC pumps 0294 and 6974 and Carter 4441 as "427" pumps of various years.
My Carter pump catalog lists AC model 4918 for the 427 engine.

My Master Parts catalog doesn't list a C5-9350-G pump.

So, what pump(s) actually came with the 427 powered Cobras as delivered?

I have the original 428 Police Interceptor in CSX 3288 but don't have the 0294 fuel pump that I believe the car came with. I have other rare parts to trade or buy it outright.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/magnesium-spline-drive-wheels/

I have used these original American Racing wheels on CSX 2401 intermittently for about 30 years. They were an option from Shelby American and listed in the Shelby parts book.
I now use chrome wire wheels and don't have space to store these anymore. See the ad for more information and photos. These are probably the rarest of all American Torq-Thrust wheels, with the spine drive version thought to have been specifically made for the 289 Cobras.

Propayne (Phillip), Do either of those magazines have pictures of the engine compartments?

If you are going to the Hilton Head Concours and are passing  through central North Carolina on your way, I have an NOS Michelin XWX tire that I need to get to someone at the show.
Please let me know if you can help me with this. Thanks. Jim

Please see my ad in Parts for Sale for these very rare original 289 Cobra 7.35 x 15 white wall Goodyear Power Cushion tires and like new Dunlop 70 spoke chrome wire wheels.
I am no longer showing my CSX 2401 in Concours for judging so I don't need these anymore. The treads are almost like new (one is NOS). If you want to show your Cobra in Concours, this is what you should have. I also have unmounted original Power Cushion tires that can be used for your spare tire.

This set of original white wall Goodyear Power Cushion tires are in excellent condition, one NOS and the other three showing very minimal wear to the outside treads. They are mounted on like new Dunlop chrome wire wheels from the Motor Wheel Service in England. The model is the XW5726 wheel, the current successor to the XA464 chrome wire wheels that originally came on 289 Cobras.
These are the ultimate tires for Concours judging. I assembled this set over years of looking and won the Best of Class (Cobra) at the 2015 French Lick Concours where Shelby was the featured mark, beating a Platinum SAAC 289 Cobra by 1/2 a point, likely due to this set of wheels and tires.
They are not suitable for regular driving, being 58 years old and due to being bias ply tires to boot!
I no longer Concours my car, preferring to drive it regularly.
This size Power Cushion tire is not reproduced. $5000 OBO

CSX 3000 Series / Re: Can anyone ID this museum car?
April 15, 2022, 12:45:06 PM
Sam Prock's CSX 3184 is currently on display in the Mustang Owner's Museum in Concord, NC. It is a beautiful car. Sam did an excellent job of rebuilding the car many years ago and it still looks great today. I examined it in detail a month or two ago and it is outstanding. Sam is a great guy, too.

Bill Collins, I would love to see the documents that you have. I am the current owner. Let me know how to get them from you.
Thanks. Jim Maxwell

Another question for you battery experts: the ads and my Autolite catalogs from 1963 to 1967 show the markings on the top of the battery to be red in color and some ads show the markings on at least one side to also be red. I see no evidence of any residual red on my battery. We're the assembly line batteries different and without red letters?
Anyone have an assembly line or showroom photo that reveals
The battery?

Thanks again for all of the help.

More photos without Armorall....  you can see that the finish in areas has suffered over the years. However, the top side seems to have faired the best over time.

The junkyard owner was quite surprised when I carried it in from the yard. He didn't think there were any batteries left in the cars. The yard has been there since at least the 50's.
