1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 Shelby build sheets
September 07, 2023, 07:34:11 PM
I don't remember this being asked before but do the 67 Shelbys have build sheets in them? I don't think that I have ever seen one?

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / 68 GT350 9" carrier id

What should the casting id be on a 68 GT350?

67 traction snubbers- do they get painted?

This is a very nice original Ford black padded dash cover.

On a basis of 10 I would rate this one as a 8 plus.

Shipping is additional and basically it needs to be crated to protect it. Box would be 60 x 15 x 12 and probably about 30 pounds.

$1,350 for the cover plus shipping. I have a shipping box for it. ;)

Lots of pictures are available. PM me here if interested.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 4 speed clutch fork boot
July 11, 2023, 10:16:37 AM
I've got an early, i.e., '60s version of the Lakewood bellhouse (scattershield) on my 67 GT500.

The hole for the clutch fork is 4.25" x 3.25". The stock boot doesn't even come close in size.

Lakewood is now owned by Holley and their Tech is totally useless. As we say, "like tits on a bull". Technically they washed their hands of it by saying it is "obsolete" since they no longer offer a Ford FE bell.

I have a friend who is a retired Ford racing parts reseller. He remembers the boot as being special and thinks he was using a Mr.Gasket boot, but doesn't remember the part number. He's been retired 17 years.

Mr.Gasket is now owned by Holley, so we have the same 15 year old working Tech. He can't talk for long since that will make him late for Home Room.

In all fairness it isn't just him. These boots are only listed as per their original application, not aftermarket and not cross referenced by size.

So the nature of the industry at the moment is that if it doesn't pop up in a Google search, then no one has an answer. The knowledge is strictly limited to being able to find it on the Internet. So I need to find someone with direct knowledge of the part.

Now considering that person is probably older then me, that might be a tough go.

A guy named Casey Stengel once managed the NY Yankees and then the expansion NY Mets in the early 1960's. At retirement age he was in his mid 70's and kept falling asleep on the bench.

A reporter asked him how he felt about his age and he said something to the effect of, "My age? Most of the people that I know who are my age are dead." So bearing that in mind, I still present the question to anyone left alive who remembers, what is the "application", the part number or the source for this boot.

Don't make me have to come out there and beat the crap out of you to get an answer. As a condition for my release, I had to promise the Judge that I would stop doing that.

Here's a picture that illustrates the issue.

I suppose the picture posting upside down on this website is somewhat appropriate but I had nothing to do with that?

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / 68 Speedometer drive gear
January 31, 2023, 12:13:14 PM
Can someone advise as to which is the correct drive gear that goes into the transmission for 3.50 gears?
I think it is the white one but I'm not sure anymore?

The Lounge / Still think C8 Corvettes are a good deal?
August 28, 2022, 09:09:57 AM
Well apparently many Chevy dealers think that they are too good, as witnessed by this screen capture of a Purchase Contract posted on Facebook.

I am in the the NYC vicinity and can state that even stock/standard C8's typically sell for sticker plus 10.

This does remind me of one of the points of discussion recently posted here about the "reorganization" of Ford under the current CEO. One of the points mentioned about justifying selling new vehicles directly on line and bypassing the new car dealers is Ford's dissatisfaction with dealers marking cars up over list.

Whereas supposedly we are all interested bystanders, sometimes these "Detroit-isms" overflow the internal local corporate battles and become viewable by the general public.

For me, sometimes it's difficult to tell the good guys from the bad ones? Can Ford's "suggested proposal" be writing on the wall for Chevy too?

I don't think that there is such a thing but honestly I can't verify that where the oil cooler hoses/lines pass through the front radiator support bulkhead that grommets much like that used on the air conditioner lines were or were not used?

I can't find the engineering illustration for the oil cooler anywhere. That likely would answer my own question?

Can anyone definatively answer this question yey or ney?

In my own defense, I'm always looking for air conditioned 67-8 GT500's at the conventions but they are not common and even when you find one the details are rarely completely original.

No one has had any of these for quite some time. I'd be interested in a nice complete used kit as an alternative. What have you got? PM me.

If you have any of the components individually I'd be interested in those also.

Was the condenser as factory installed painted black or was it left natural aluminum as manufactured finish?

Swap Meet / Swap RUG-AZ for RUG-S
July 25, 2022, 11:52:54 AM
I have a complete RUG-AZ set up. Including Ford Hurst shifter and Ford rods, levers and speedometer adapter.

At this point it is going into my '67 GT500 BUT I'd consider swapping it for a the right RUG-S that should be in my car.

Not that it matters but it is hooked up with a vintage Lakewood "scattershield" and I'd be interested in the right date coded C60A bell, 7E30, as well.

PM me if anything strikes your fancy on this disturbing thought.

NOTHING IS FOR SALE HERE. Only a swap one for the other.

The Lounge / Rivets for original Mustang horns
July 21, 2022, 10:50:03 AM
Are the rivets that hold the Mustang horn halves together available new from anyone?
#35
Does the 68 use a metal bracket set, like the 65-6 does where the a/c lines pass through the radiator support to the condenser?

I know that it uses a grommet but is there a metal bracket set that attaches it to the radiator support?

I can't find any pictures or diagrams that show the detail at that point? I simply don't remember what it is supposed to look like?

Here's a scenario to consider in your response.

Presuming that say a "Shelby" was purchased in 1970 for $1,000, and kept and maintained all these years and sold now for $150,000, is the amount dealt with like selling a stock or like selling a house?

The reason that I ask, a stock has no maintanence cost. If I bought 1,000 shares of Apple at $4 per share and sell it now there was no cost to me of maintaining it.

On a car, there were 40 years of insurance, repairs, and other maintenance to maintain it's value. Without actually totaling the number, that could be more then the actual sales price of the car?

So how does this get declared? Is there a "discussion" or debate with the IRS about that AND does this have to be declared as "ordinary income"?

WTB clutch lever boot for Lakewood Ford Bell.

I have an "old" Lakewood Ford FE "scattershield that I need a clutch lever boot for.

It is no longer serviced by Lakewood.

It measures 3" x 4" if that helps.

If you know a source for this that would help as well.

I'm specifically looking for the paint markings common to 67 GT500 manual transmission cars but also common ones from different years.

If you could, posting them here would be helpful.

Thanks.
