Sounds like so much fun!  Alas, because of my line of work, my employer frowns upon anyone traveling outside of the New England states at this time.   :'(

Beautiful car but I can definitely see how it might be hard to live with in a sunny climate.

For me, the '66 checks all the boxes.  Not as "rough and tumble" as the '65 but still enough to let you know it means business.  The additional colors, the quarter windows, rear seat option, C4 transmission for those so inclined, the Hertz models.  Just a cool car.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of anything Shelby from '65 to '70, but I do fancy the '66.

It's not simply a tribute or a replica.  It's a tribute replica.   ::)

Very nice collection of photos.  I've been unable to attend for a few years for varying reasons.  Thanks for sharing!  Very cool.

Let's lighten up things a little bit. Do any of you know the true meaning for the car GLHS? I know what Carroll told me when I was sitting with him at the SEMA show in Vegas in 1988 or 89.

Don't leave us hanging Roy, share what he told you  :)

How about a few more guesses first. Once I tell you, you will know it came straight  from the old man.

I can remember cruising Broad Street in Richmond, VA in my cousin's Shelby Charger back in the day.  It was actually a pretty cool car when it was new.  Can't remember the last time I saw one though.

hey man, so what year was that?  I cruised the Q on both ends of the Blvd many nights back in the day.  Good times !

So that would have been 1984-1985 time frame. Great times, I remember it well.

This place looks interesting.  It's in EBF, but I believe there is lodging within a reasonable distance.  The homepage opening photo looks promising.   8)

What about Nashville Super Speedway ???

Not much happening there since they lost their truck date ........  somewhat central location, lots of infrastructure at a reasonable cost.

Rumor has it that the Cup series is going back there in the near future and even read that they are entertaining going back to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.  I went to a truck series race there in 1997 when I was living there and had a great time

No. The other issue is that you can't have ANY residual water or coolant in the system or it reacts.   I personally run  Royal Purple water wetter and distilled water.
I rarely see over 190 unless I am dealing with an extended idling condition.

+1 on the Royal Purple Ice.  I live in NH, the car sits in an unheated garage all winter so I use 50/50 mix of Prestone and distilled water.  No issues at all with overheating.

Wonderful news. Hoping he'll be gaining strength daily and be able to put all this behind him soon.
