The history of this/these vehicle/s are now on record in cyberspace.  Given the amount of labor and additional parts required, the winning bidder will have to be a professional or very accomplished amateur in order to not lose money on this project.  IMHO, it would be less expensive to have purchased an already complete and restored 1966 GT350 with a clean history.

Agreed.  The seller honestly presented the car.  It would seem that the current frenzy on BAT and other auction sites for things other than vehicles has resulted in inflated prices.  One can rationalize that, since the Dollar is worth less, it takes more of them to buy "stuff".  In more sane times, I doubt this car would've broken into six figures.

Just me mind you, but IMHO, the selling price was generous given the modifications, non-original block, carb, transmission and lack of the original VIN tag.

I again offer the information that the pictured ring tongue terminal is, in fact, an AMP PIDG yellow for #12-10 AWG range.   Obviously, SAI chose to use the improper tool to terminate same and I would venture to guess that, over the years, various problems were caused because of that, perhaps the heat described above. I worked for AMP Incorporated for 28 years in various sales, marketing and corporate communications positions. I just checked and a solenoid stud takes a 5/16" ring tongue. The largest I have is for #10 studs. Best check distributors that carry TYCO Electronics. They bought AMP a few years back.

The terminal you have pictured was not crimped by factory tooling.  In all probability, the correct terminal would've been an AMP PIDG #12 AWG terminated with their tooling which crimped at the wire barrel and the insulation barrel. Underneath the yellow insulation is a copper sleeve which aids in supporting the insulation crimp.  If you'll send me a PM with the diameter of the studs and your mailing address, I'll check and, if I have some, I'll send them to you.  As for the tool, that's another thing.  Sometimes, they show up on eBay or you may find one at surplus/salvage stores.  Better yet, if you have a major company nearby (like BOEING) that manufactures items with electrical apparatus, they may have the correct tooling.

I'm reminded of one of Jim Osborne's cars, a white GT500KR convertible, if my memory doesn't fail me, that caught fire while his son was driving it on the way to a show back in the '90's.  Seems the electric top motor shorted out and, before it was discovered, the car became engulfed in flames.  It was a total loss but they brought it back from the "dead" to full concours condition. It can be done!

It affords the protection of the built-in HANS Device while being in a vehicle with only 3-point belts.  Expensive but well-worth it when compared to outfitting your vehicle with a rollbar and 5 or 6 point belts. Many instructors like myself use them since we're sitting in the right seats of many cars without harnesses.  You may find a dealer who sells this item at a discount or may find someone who will loan you theirs for the event.  Since just about all track events require windows down, no matter what the weather, I highly recommend a full-face helmet with face shield.  We've seen some freak instances where gravel, stones or even small parts of cars have been thrown up and into a following car and glanced off a driver's face shield. I've also been in a vehicle when the air bags were deployed. The passenger wearing the open-face helmet got serious abrasions from his air bag.

The Scaglietti-designed Ferrari 250 SWB (short wheel based berlinetta) is, IMHO, one of the most beautiful vehicles ever designed.  It has been said that it was a major design influence for the Mustang 2+2.
