I assume you mean 68 Cougar with R & W code. I can see the early W code cars getting them, but R production started in February 68. Maybe some Mustang 135 cars got SPEC cases? They were built late December 67. About a week or so after the 7L20 and 7L21 no N nodular cases started getting made. Just for reference, my May 11, 1968 Torino GT R code fastback has its original 7M21 case with 31 spline 3.91 trac lock.

I don't know when the non-SPEC Nodular started casting, but I have one dated "7F2."
Does anyone have a pic of a one of these Nodular with no fill plug? Otherwise, I have a hard time believing they exist. The timeframe for their use would be so short and the applications so limited that I don't think Ford would've bothered.

Here are the two that I have. I don't know if you can zoom in on the pics, but here's the best I can describe them. Both are very solid. Both have pros and cons.
The one on top has a little rust and the numbers are a little fuzzy. I think a good blasting and paint would cover it up pretty well. The numbers might just be a poor stamping from the factory. The adjustment slot appears clean and free of gouge marks.
The one on bottom is very rust-free and the numbers are crisp and clear. The only downside to this one is it has some gouge markss in the adjustment slot. Still solid but maybe could be filed down a bit to clean that up.
Let me know which one you want. I have a buyer for the one you don't take.

It appears to be separate from the GT option

Believe it was "automatic" with a 4 speed. Other examples with it not listed on the Marti report had tachs in my sampling. Could not find an example (s code 4 speed) without one.

My 67 S code is a factory four-speed non-GT car. It came equipped with a 6K tach. Years ago I had a 68 S code factory four-speed non-GT car. That one was factory equipped with a 8K tach.

Are there any known examples of SPEC cases or any other Nodular cases without a fill plug? I've never seen one.

I've got a couple of them. $100 shipped/each.

Fortunately, Californians aren't the only idiots falling for this. Arizona and Michigan have it also. We'll have to wait and see how far it spreads. I don't see anything "convenient" about it, but as long as it's a "choice" I'm okay with it.

Appeals / Re: Recommendation for engine shipping
October 14, 2022, 02:30:59 AM
It's been several years since I last shipped anything that big so I don't know what the current options might be. Last time I did, I used Forward Air. I would only use them as a LAST RESORT. They were the cheapest back then, TRUE. The problem is the inconvenience.
FIRST, the shipment has to be dropped off and picked up at their airport depots. They don't pick up or deliver. They don't have depots at every airport, so in my case, it was almost an hour drive each way to drop off a shipment.
SECOND, and this is the worst part to me, is the whole drop-off procedure. When you arrive, you have to check in, then WAIT until they're ready to unload you. Then WAIT until they put your shipment on a scale to determine the shipping cost. Then WAIT until they call you to the counter to tell you the shipping cost. When they tell you the shipping cost, they'll tell you to go to a nearby liquor store and get a money order to pay the shipping cost. The shipping depot doesn't accept cash, checks, credit or debit cards. ONLY MONEY ORDERS. So, after driving there and unloading your shipment, you have to leave to go buy this money order and hope nothing happens to your items before you come back. Then, when you return with the money order, you get to WAIT some more until they're good and ready to take your payment.
I did this a few times until I just got too tired of it. I would make my trips at 10-11 at night to try to avoid traffic and thinking they might not be real busy at that hour. I don't know what might've happened had I gone earlier, but my late-night trips were all at least four hours long from start to finish. I hope a good option turns up. I'd be interested, as well.

He also send me an pm, please delete this guy

+1.   Mr Moderator...can you help?

I'm surprised this hasn't happened already. I'm a member on several automotive forums and, as soon as these guys are known, they get booted. Those sites seem to have one advantage over this site. On those sites you can easily see the poster's join date and post count. If a guy joined three hours ago and has six posts that are all replies to "wanted" ads, that should give you a clue. We all need to be very careful, both buyers and sellers.
Fortunately, I haven't had any attempted scams on me from any of the sites I frequent lately. I have, however, received three E-mails in the past week from "Microsoft Security" stating they had noticed "unusual login attempts" on my account and were locking my E-mail until I resolved the issue. They provided a link for me to go to to "fix the problem." I thought it was kind of funny that they sent me an E-mail to tell me that they had locked me out of my E-mail.

Every day I hear how gas is going down, down, down. Where I live, the price had gotten down to $4.58. Now, all of a sudden, the price is back up to $4.79.

He's a regular seller at the Long Beach High Performance Swapmett, so he could be found there this Sunday.

I find it a little odd that this subject took so long to get posted here. I first read about his idea back in Nov. 2021. Not sure if it was around any earlier.

I agree the whole idea sucks. I like being able to special order a vehicle. I've done that a few times. But just like the whole electric vehicle deal, it should be an option, not the law. Viewing a car on a computer screen is not the same as seeing it in person. I'll never buy a car that I can't test drive first, and putting a bunch of people out of work is never a good thing.

On a side note, I received an E-mail yesterday from the dealer where I bought my 2020 F150 Super Crew saying that they're now taking orders for 2023s and promised NO dealer markups.

You don't know this first thing about me, and your childish answer shows it. Maybe you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills. I've never defended Biden or the Dems. I actually voted for Trump (reluctantly) in 2016, but after all the chaos he's put this country through, I'll never again vote for him or any of his Cult of Clowns.

Well.... Don't feel sorry for a corrupt politician.

I've said that probably a thousand times about the crook before him. I'm glad to be rid of that orange lump of slime, but the new guy isn't impressing me either.

Perhaps he needs the money for his inevitable impeachment legal bills.

Be careful what you wish for. The line of succession doesn't favor you or me. While I'm glad to be rid of the previous moron, I definitely have issues with the new guy. Votes for impeachment, like with the last guy, aren't likely. And if he did get the boot, guess who's next in line? I'll give you a hint. Their initials are K.H. After her is another winner with the initials N.P. Going farther down the list is all Cabinet Members who are even less qualified.

Appeals / Smog Tube Repair
June 22, 2022, 12:53:18 AM
Does anyone repair / restore smog tubes? I have these tubes that came off a 67 Fairlane 390. You can see by the pics that someone cut these off apparently with a hacksaw in order to pull the heads off the motor in the car. Thanks for any leads.
