Does a better quality example of this picture exist?  According to Colin Comer's book, CSX3336 was converted to a drag car know as The Ravager, current whereabouts unknown. I can make out what looks to be an 'ER' on the side of this car, so maybe this is it.
Daaamn, you got some good eyes.LOL

Or maybe just a good imagination...

Does look like the grab handle on the dash is getting some use!

I noticed on the $26,000(!!!) receipt for the engine rebuild that one of the line items is to install HiPo main caps.  Makes you wonder if it was even born as a HiPo engine.

There are some YouTube videos of it.  I just ordered some to give it a try.

If there had been one less zero, I would be posting about the Cobra that I just bought!

I bet you tumble it in steel shot for a bit and will look like nothing happened  there!

chris

They are 2 68 S8MS carbs and you don't want to disturb the original stampings on the air horns. Now he needs to deal with the color of the dye which tends to be very light on them.

That patch plates need to be the same material to take the dye the same way.

I think any kind of tumbling is going to be risky. Although the 68 Shelby carbs tend to have heavy stampings, some are like the stampings on the distributor housings. Very light.

Someone who can counterfeit the printing plates for currency might be the one to get if you can wait for them to get out of prison? They don't work cheap though. ;)

Vapor blasting will restore the finish nicely and bring the script back to how it originally looked.

I did get a kick out of the Chevy LSx head sitting in the background in Miles' repair shop.

That was my take as well, Bob.  I think to really get the story right, you would have to double the length of an already long movie,  plus source a lot of difficult to get cars and parts, and have them at your disposal for several months of filming.  My advice is to not go in expecting a documentary of the history of Shelby-American.  This was about Shelby's involvement with the GT40 team, and I thought it was more of a tribute to Ken Miles than anything else, which was wonderful to see.  Now I want to go watch it again!

The Lounge / Re: Restamped Hipo Distributor

I can certainly see this happening with some distributors as well as other parts.  While some have clear stamping that would be very difficult to alter, others, such as the one in the photo, have a very faint part number prefix.

It is a GREAT piece of garage art.  Not sure about $5,000 worth, but quite the conversation piece.
