The Lounge / Modern Car Headlight Restoration
« on: December 12, 2018, 07:24:01 PM »
Hello. I ran across this video on YouTube. See if it works for you all. I've tried several different ways and this looks like he knows what he is doing. He says he has a background in plastics manufacturing. I'm going to try it on my CR-V. Let me know how it turned out as I will, too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2ZRKPshPVM

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Correct Wheels and Tires For '67
« on: October 26, 2018, 11:15:18 PM »
Hello. I was wondering about what were the correct wheel and tire options for the Shelbys for '67? I saw a vid on YouTube of some guy taking the viewer through at red and white '67 Shelby that he said has the correct 10-spoke wheels on it. I am somewhat sure that only the '68s had the 10-spokes.

The Lounge / Garage Heating Ideas
« on: October 25, 2018, 11:34:11 AM »
Hello. I was wondering what is/would be, the most economical way to heat a garage during the Winter. I have a 2 3/4 car garage. It's a very generous 2.5 car size. I used a torpedo-style heater last year, but the bottles of propane don't seem to last all that long and they are pricey. I have an "attic" area above the cars that is open, with several areas used as storage with 3/4 inch floors. I'll include the square footage in a little while. It's something like 650 square feet, I believe.

The Lounge / Bill Collins Car Show
« on: October 13, 2018, 08:10:23 PM »
Hey, everyone, I took my son to the nearly all-Ford car show today at the Bill Collins Ford dealership here in Louisville. I got to meet Larry427 and his nice wife. I got to see 3 real Shelbys up close and personal. One was a survivor, which was a treat. There was a '67, a '69 and a '70. Unfortunately, 2 of the owners I met of these neat Shelbys, did not belong to S.A.A.C. or were on the forums. I'll try to get the owners to join, next time I get a chance to see some Shelbys. I look forward to meeting more of you at an Indiana S.A.A.C. event. Later.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Roll Bar
« on: October 11, 2018, 05:58:26 PM »
I just looked at some roll bars from Branda today and I didn't see those little "surfboard" rings on top of it. Are those stock on the '68-'70 Shelby verts? Just the '69-'70 models? Not stock, but optional?

Hello. I am having a bit of a tough time finding at least one specification on the aforementioned Shelbys. How tall are the Sportsroof and convertibles? I think it is about 50 or so inches? I've seen two lengths listed and I found that its width is around 70 some odd inches. How much do the separate models weigh dry? It's also my understanding that there are 4 fiberglass pieces on them,  the front fenders, the hood and the trunk lid (not including the fiberglass extension). How wide is side profile of the extention? How much length did it add to the length of the car?

The Lounge / Second 4-Plex Offer Accepted!
« on: October 07, 2018, 11:32:53 PM »
I am that much closer to being able to afford a real Shelby. I made an offer on one of the 2 4-plexes I looked at today and they replied with an acceptance in less than 5 hours! I will be inspecting the other two units in that building tomorrow, as I and a group of investors who showed-up for the open house today, couldn't get access to units 3 and 4. I just bought my first one last Dec. I can't wait to refinance them, cash-out and go buy maybe a 6-plex or 8, if I can find one for the right price. Yay for me. :)

The Lounge / I Fixed My Car Today!
« on: September 26, 2018, 07:14:36 PM »
Hey everyone. I was able to do some major work on my car today, thanks in no small part to YouTube! I watched a video twice on how to change out the strut assemblies on my CR-V, bought the left and right side ones from Rock Auto (they arrived in like 2 days) and I installed them today! It only took me around 50 minutes each I've never done that kind of involved work before on any car I've ever owned. Now, I bet I can do some fixing and installing on my future Shelby! Yay for me!  ;)  ;D  :P

The Lounge / Self-Protection EDC
« on: September 17, 2018, 04:17:28 PM »
Hello. I was wondering if anyone else carries any protection with them on a regular/fairly regular basis. I do, most of the time. I am going to purchase a Glock 43, which is a sub-compact, great for iwb (inside the waistband) carry and it's a 9mm. It's a pretty new model. I've seen several spec ops guys carrying it as one of their EDC (every day carry) items on YouTube videos. I also bought this nifty minimalist "wallet" by Trayvax that is a blue anodized item. I also often carry one of my two automatic knives. One is an antique American jack knife made between 1946 and 1956. I also have an Italian auto. I don't feel paranoid and I'm not in constant concern for my health or the health of my family. It's just that I have seen a lot of violence, here, in my city and all across the globe lately, as in the last 10 years or so. I may be adding some different items to my EDC that I will swap out from time-to-time, like an extendable baton and mace, in lieu of a knife. I just like to be prepared for any problem that may come up, especially when my wife and 2 small children are with me.

The Lounge / Keepin' It Original Or Not?
« on: September 16, 2018, 01:45:30 PM »
Hello. I was wondering what you all would do. I do not have a Shelby right now, but in the future, I will. My choices of a convertible '70 Shelby will be pretty limited. With that being said, we all know the reason for that. So few of these cars were made in any given year and especially, the 'verts AND throw-in the price range I will be looking at, I think I will be in a corner when it comes to exterior color, when it comes to paint and the top. What should I do, if the only decent candidate I find, does not have the factory body and cloth top color that I really want? I am in the some conundrum with a '66 Fury I that I have. It is nearly 99.99% original, except for the lousy paint job the last guy did, which really should get stripped. The original paint color is a really light sky blue, which I do not like. I have wrestled around in my mind between keeping it original or painting it the color I would really like to have. It would have to be a blue or white to match the 2-3 tone blue interior it has. Keeping or returning a Shelby in/to its original condition, as far as major components, like the interior, the paint, the color of convertible top, etc., I am aware, is of major concern, when valuating a Shelby's worth. I really like the Gulfstream Aqua and the Silver Jade. I really only like maybe 2 or 3 other paints. What should I do, when it comes to the paint and top color, when I get a Shelby? I know, some of you are like "dude, get the car first, then worry about it". I'm just curious, because, like I said, I've been going through this with my Plymouth for a while now. I'm selling the Fury, to make room for the Shelby. Your thoughts . . .

Concours Talk / Cobra Badging
« on: September 15, 2018, 03:14:28 PM »
Hey, just a quick question here . . . I've seen some Shelbys from either '69 or '70, that are convertibles, that did not have the cobra on the back of the rear quarter panels. Did all '69-'70 Shelby 'verts have the cobra on the back of the car AND I'm wondering why they are facing two different directions? I wonder why they didn't make them both face forwards or rearwards. Huh . . .

SAAC Forum Requests / Just Introducing Myself
« on: September 10, 2018, 09:55:37 AM »
Hello to all the admins, mods and members in general. I just wanted to say "hello" and to check-in for the first time. I live in Louisville, Ky., I'm 50 and have been into cars since around 1976 or 1977 and I believe my first car love was a '65 Mustang coupe. Our janitor when I was in middle school, had a dark colored one. I think it was dark green. In any event, I then was exposed to a '68 Roadrunner that my friends older brother bought in the late '70's. I have been a life-long Mopar freak, but I have recently become interested again, in Shelbys. They were always my favorite Mustang-bodied Fords. The regular Mustangs are nice and I really like the GT/CS and the High Country Specials, but the '70 Shelby converts are my very favorites. I looked into the production figures here and unfortunately, there were very few made. I like them over the '69's because of the chin spoiler and the black stripes and mainly, because they were the last and had some of the lowest production figures. I've never seen a Shelby on the street, for as far back as I can remember. I'll own one in the not-so-distant future, but I need more rental properties to make that dream come true. I'd even love to make payments on a $40,000. fixer-upper, if I could. I'm glad I can join, even though I am just a hopeful owner. I look forward to talking and learning all about Shelbys, specifically the '69-'70 models. I attended the Mecum car auction with my dad and my 4.5 year old son. We had a great time and there actually was one Shelby there. It was a medium blue '69, I believe. I can post a pic of it at a later date. I'll see y'all later on the forums.
