Thank guys, I will pass along the info. I personally really like the white stripes especially with white interior, and he is really just doing it as a driver, but it is his call.

It was repainted many years ago, so hard saying. Makes sense that it wouldn't be on the build sheet, my bad.
Thank you!

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 69 stripe color
April 10, 2024, 03:53:49 PM
I know a gentleman with an early 69 GT-350, red w/white interior. I know gold stripe is normal, but is it possible that it could have had white stripes originally? Would that be on the build sheet (if he can find it)?

Thanks in advance.

I like to use anti-seize on the original type only between the lug nut taper & wheel to prevent galling. Studs dry & torqued to 95-100. recheck as others have said!!

Wanted to Buy / Re: Movable Lift
December 26, 2023, 12:30:57 PM
Almost (if not all) storage lifts are made in China. Actually very few lifts of any type are still made in USA! I have seen many cases where the vendor goes out of business, then you can't find any parts down the road. In fact sometimes you can't get parts if something is wrong when they are brand new!! (I was in the automotive equipment business for 30+ years fwiw)

So definitely buy from a company that has been around for awhile.

Bend Pak always seemed to have decent customer service, parts availability etc as far as storage lifts go.

Could be problem with the balance job/tire/wheel assy. Happens a lot! Not all balancers & mounting adapters are created equal! I would find a shop that has the proper adapters to center wheel on  balancer via lug nut holes(same as on the vehicle) vs center hole. Lug-centric balancing.

I would suggest that you go to www.hunter.com and click on the red "contact hunter" option in upper RH corner. This will give you the sales & service reps in your area. They should know what shops in your area have the proper equipment/technicians to diagnose your situation if it is indeed a tire/wheel problem.

Hope this helps, Mike

The Lounge / Re: Starting to lay out new work shop

My 40 x 60. I was restricted to a 10' ceiling (to keep overall height below local requirements with roof pitch). I had the trusses built with a 12' tall area for my lift, plus a storage area in the attic.  Heated & cooled, so lots of insulation for that ever changing midwest weather! I also put in a bathroom, and a 20 x 20 closed off work shop where I can paint, grind, plus parts storage, compressor, slop sink etc etc  Was 3 years in the making so had lots of opportunity to try to get it right this time!!

I put one of the '66 Branda units in my 69 GT-350. I did not have to reinforce it, in fact I did not even screw it in. That being said, I do not put anything on it except for a jacket, towel, etc or ?.

I did put some thin strips of foam weatherstrip along the side fiberglass panels to keep it from rattling, then put some velcro on the bottom side in center & on top of the rear end hump, so it is easily removeable. It all stays put quite well. I did not make a latch for the trap door, it seems to stay put on its own.

I like the look & got rid of the weight of the fold down. Also, I put a couple of layers of insulation under it to help cut down on road noise.

Attended the 2nd annual Chris Brown Memorial show in his hometown of Louisiana MO on Saturday. Was well attended, weather was perfect. 250+ cars.
Pretty damned surreal having been to this show many times with Chris over the past 20 years or so.

RIP buddy

Sad. One thing I will always remember, is walking into the hotel at Mid-America and see John's smiling face ) greeting me every year.
