I used on of these kits for my 69 350:

Works great, far superior to the old technology. Not for concours but if you drive a lot these are a life saver. And requires no modifications to existing wiring.

On my c code 68 fastback I have had a set of Coyote brand headers on it for about 30-35 years. My understanding is they were made by Hooker as a less expensive version, but I bought them used in the 80's, so?. Engine is 428 CJ. I think most brands were advertised to fit 67-70 Mustangs, back in the day at least. They fit fine. My car has auto trans & no power steering.
It has been probably 20 years since the engine was out, but when I was racing it somewhat regularly I pulled the engine from time to time.
I always left the transmission in the car, then kind of worked the headers and the engine in at the same, usually with some help to work each side in, drop the engine a little, etc.

And I have all 32 header bolts installed! That takes longer than installing the engine!!

And I don't think there's any way the engine would go in with the headers already attached.

Hope this helps a little

Very sad news. First met Randy many years ago at Knotts Berry Farm Ford show. He had his 66 Shelby there & literally talked to me like we were old friends. But that's who he was. Such a wealth of knowledge gone.

I used Global West control arms and they came with a template to relocate the mount points by 1 3/8 or 1 1/2", I don't remember which.

I used a setup from Mustang Project. Been in my 69 for 15 years now, I have been very happy with it.

Paul Marvin, 817-691-0159, paulrmarvin@icloud.com.
Please do not omit the "r" between my first and last name in the email address. If you do, some other Paul Marvin, a short tempered physician in the Carolinas, gets the mail and he just don't like it anymore!
Thank you.

That's funny sh$t Paul!!

Hope all is well!

I am going to suggest Magnaflow 15816 2.5" system. Complete system. I have a similar system (but 3") on my 69, it is top quality and a great sound. Stainless, mandrel bent system. Includes X pipe. I am very happy with the fit, you would probably have to get an exhaust shop to modify the tail pipes to go thru the valance, but I installed the rest of it at home.

I know a lot of people have used these FWIW, now whether they are the best choice for a 66 Shelby I don't know. I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable than myself will chime in!

I was afraid of that, thanks!!

Safe to assume you must remove the dash pad to access where it plugs into the wiring harness?

Thanks in advance, just wanted to push the easy(lazy) button here!
