I love the colors on that conv.
The white interior, as I call it in the 67, and the white interior pictured above, are timeless !

Gas prices are killing our economy, great picture !!!!!

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: They are still out there.
« on: March 17, 2022, 09:47:46 AM »
I have a friend who also has about 7 Shelbys, all of which are not in the registries. He does not care to report them, they are all legit and have proper numbers. He enjoys the privacy. He knows what they are and anyone seeing them would know also. He will not allow any "number collectors" or any of that.
I don't get it.  My '68 GT500 hasn't been registered is at least 20 years,  In pristine condition, sits covered in the man cave along with some other interesting cars.  I have no intent to drive it anytime soon, busy with more fun projects.  The car is not in any registry with very few people knowing it exists.  I've keep it out of sight for 45 years.  If I drop dead today, certain there would be exclamations of "BARN FIND!" by some bottom-feeding twit.  You missed the bus when these were piss cheap in the '70s.  The car is not lost, and its future is well accounted for.
+1 on both!!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 67 GT-500 Thermostat Housing
« on: March 17, 2022, 09:31:49 AM »
PN is C7AZ-8952-A, the housing is correct in showing the engineering number of 8594-A.

Correct  BG?

Also for 427 Fairlane as well.

Yes, you need professional advice, not Internet advice.  However, I don't think you can add routine maintenance costs to your cost basis.  Things you spent money on to improve the cars value help to increase your cost basis but maintenance does not.  That has been my understanding.
Or IRS advice!!

Appeals / Re: Enclosed Car Trailer Minimum Length
« on: March 07, 2022, 05:02:58 PM »
I don't know about other manufacturer's but at most, a 22' is the oddball size. They either sell the 20' or go to the 24'. at least that's what my trailer sales where I bought mine was.  I could easily buy a 20' or go to the 24' and buy right there on the lot.  But, if I wanted the 22' trailer, they had to have it made.

Don't get me wrong, the 22'er was a choice but it was going to cost me more than the 24' that was right there on the lot. All they had to do was install the D-rings where I wanted them.

My trailer is the 24' Freedom V-nose. Pulls like a dream at 80mph with my F250 7.3L from Reese hitch.

This is the type of car that sells for BIG money and a lot of people with limited budgets see one at 1/2 price so they jump on it. They work on it as their budget allows and it never seems to get finished.

A friend of mine is in love with Swift airplanes. They have a good following but are generally owned by people with a shoestring budget for flying. He's had several in his shop for extended periods just waiting for the owners to provide the next influx of cash to move their project along. I see this B9 in the same light.

Remind me not to fly the friendly skies with them ;)

My 69 Super Stock CJ had the same modifications. I believe it was to save weight and provide an attachment point for a driveshaft safety loop that would be close to the transmission yoke universal joint. I think NHRA rules required the safety loop a specified distance from the yoke universal? My car was also "swiss cheese" drilled anywhere possible to allow weight to be added in a more advantages locations. My seat risers were drilled and cut as well as under dash brackets and doors.

Agreed
I raced circle track for several years and our cars could be 52-48% L to R weight distribution. And one of the first places we would add weight to get the 52% is under the driver's seat.

Can't really find the words...
This is so Amazing and I'll reiterate what some has posted, what a superb Gentleman, like he said, "Being a product of the 60's as was the Cobra", and young Tom saved his money and bought his dream Cobra as he was actually producing name badges/plates for the very cars he Loved!!

As a Machinist by trade and a Tool & Die College graduate,  I can "Totally" relate to Tom and his love for his business. A person does have a Great feeling when you produce things you can actually touch on vehicles of the period.  I didn't produce vehicle parts, but did make Submarine parts and Carrier parts that I actually got to see, feel and see function in person.

The Video is one of the best I've seen lately about a Man and his Dream of owning a Cobra and producing parts for that Cobra 8)
