1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Autolite battery caps
« on: January 03, 2024, 04:58:10 PM »
I have a set of Autolite red vented battery caps.  Given to me many years ago but I never used them.  I have a 68 Gt500, are they correct for this car?

Thanks

Is there a difference between trunk letters and front panel letters?

Hello Bob
I was able to clean it up pretty good.  Good enough so that I will not replace it.  I am pretty sure that it is just the plain grey since both sides look the same.  Also, it is clear that it was glued in place.
Now I' trying to determine if the spare tire is an original.  I've held onto it for 42 years thinking it is.  The date code is TUO 1185.  Does this line up with my car?
Thanks,
Kerry Hoctor

I have pictures if you are interested

Thank you for your responses.  I am going to try to clean and flatten it out first! Fingers crossed that the old one might be salvageable.

Thanks

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Trunk mat replacement
« on: September 10, 2023, 04:33:01 PM »
I am looking to replace the mat currently residing in my trunk.  Quite sure it is the original since it has residue still in place from being glued in at the factory.  Who has the best replacement?  Mine is a cloth of some sort with brown fibers threaded throughout.  Was there a vinyl mat on top of this felt like glued in one?
Thanks for any help!

Kerry

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Smog Pump ?
« on: April 23, 2023, 04:37:38 PM »
Looking for advice regarding the smog pump on my 68 GT500.  I've disconnected my pump because it is clearly got an issue.  Makes quite a racket!  Can they be rebuilt?  Most likely a bearing of some sort.
Thanks

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Door armrest removal
« on: April 06, 2023, 03:24:03 PM »
I need to get my passenger side door panel removed to fix the door handle.  I need to remove the armrest.  Problem is I need to remove the decorative buttons.  Clearly they have never been removed and I'm trying to not butcher it up in the process.  Any tricks I should know about?
Thanks

I've decided to replace my original tires.  They are now 17 years old and I plan on some longer cruises this summer.  What are the best tires for this car?
Thanks
