I used to look for parts all the time. I have saved searches that I get emails on. I don't have time to sift through all of the BS to see what I am looking for. Any suggestions to get the spam out of ebay searches? I tried tagging some from time to time buy ebay doesn't give a rat's a$$. Here is my email on the 68 Shelby console search. Look at the 5 new "finds".

As a GM employee and a longtime fan of Hendrick Motors sports going back decades I hope someday to be able to tour that facility. I have toured my GM Heritage facility before with 1 off cars you will never see anywhere else. Mr H is just a class act guy and being a NASCAR fan it has been fun to watch the championships  over the decades including JJ's 7.

I agree. Go back to the previous system if possible.

This system and format(multiple recent posts on same topic) makes me think I'm on the 428CJ forum.

I chose white stripes to match my top. I understand. Why Ford made that piss yellow gold stripe is a mystery to me (late 60s thing?) and then put it on red and aqua cars where white is a natural bewilders me.

Trust me as I have numerous correct sets bought over the years thanks to an education by Ed Meyer a few decades ago that these are NOT correct for 68-70. Last year I was fortunate to pick up a set of NOS in the Lucas boxes for a very fair price. Cheaper than a single one I bought NOS in the FORD box a few weeks earlier(Paid 500 for the Ford boxed one and 400 for the pair of the Lucas boxed ones) . I bought my used ones from England sellers also(not pictured). There are a few variations of the "ENGLAND" lenses. my NOS ones here

As Bob mentioned a guy here(me) put white stripes on my car as a personal preference. I have Shelby books from the early 80s that show white stripes on red car. I'm pretty sure that was a repaint preference. We see white stripes also on Gulfstream Aqua cars as they also only got the gold. The only red car I have seen with white stripes on it that was done at ao smith was Carroll Shelbys vert but that was repainted from a different color. Is my info correct,Bob, on Shelby's car that Jim restored?
  It isn't that hard to change the stripes back-just a lot of elbow grease and the correct tool.My car in 1970 and also as I have it now.

Phosphating isn't that expensive to have done and is highly recommended over paint which will rub off when opening and closing the hood. Usually a bulk price so gather up a bunch of parts or split the bill with a friend like I did a few years ago getting some hinges, springs, fasteners and other part plated.

Better pics showing how the flatter slightly curved snake don't fit a vert good. At the top you can see the curved differences on how they fit or don't fit .

What is also interesting is how could they prove your engine was even in a car that is over a half century old even if the dates aligned where the engine was sold after the car was stolen. On a new car yep but unless there is actual proof the car contained it's original engine for the last 50 years(it might have) I'd think it would be hard to prove but, hey, I'm not a lawyer. Maybe one of the ones here can chime in. I think if the insurance company gets wind of this situation the owner of the car could be in for some big legal problems.

I need to take my emblems over to my friend Seraphim's house and put them on his 68 fenders(my flatter .025 gap emblems) to see how they fit. My emblems were all bought in the 80s at Columbus swap meet. The guy had display cases filled with original Ford emblems.

Going through my original ford green backed snake emblems I have 2 styles. One fits my convertible quarter panel perfectly. In the side pic you can see the curvature of the quarter panel where the emblem sits. How do  know they are in the right position? when I bought my car-plus I have pics when it was new-it had the original Shelby emblems on it. I measure the placement of the rectangular "SHELBY" emblem before removing. I know it was never off because tof pics and the original RED paint under it(masked off on a repaint). What I call the convertible snake has  .054 thousands gap in the center of the emblem on a flat surface. The other style which doesn't fit has about a .025 thousands gap in the center. The vert emblem when set on my Mach1 between the emblem studs is slightly open in the center. The flatter one fits real close but not perfect but probably does when stuck on. Second pic shows the top gap of the flatter .025 emblem on a vert quarter. First pic .054 gap snake fits perfectly.
