Hey Dan, will you be done in time for Philly?

I learn something new every day.

For road racing I used the close ratio with a 3:54 rear end. Good for most tracks except the long straight at Road America and any super speedway. Tops out at about 140-150 mph at 6000-6300 rpm. Not the best for highway cruising but pretty good all round.

I just finished Preston Lerner's book "Shelby American The Renegades Who Built  the Cars, Won the Races and Lived the Legend". Who would have thought there was anything left to say? Well, if you want a comprehensive, complete, chronological and pretty objective history, this is the book for you.

I have no financial interest in giving this review, but if you are like me, you have read dozens of versions of the tales. Some say the Brits did it all. Others create heroes and villains that didn't exist. Here is a full, accurate, and unbiased history of a very short, spectacular period where a bunch of young guys (mostly) won the biggest races in the world just by out smarting, out working, and out manoeuvring everybody else. And even though Shelby was no angel, he made it all happen.

According to Al Joniec, page 132  of his book, Ollie theDragon belched flame because it's initial timing was only 6 degrees BTDC.

Hey Ron, Why can't SAAC collect all these interviews and post them in one place? I think there are even historical interviews with Ken Miles that could be included, like the one on "The Cobra Story" although you would need permission for that one. I really enjoyed the Rick Kopec and Drew Serb interviews in the annual.

I LOVED the story of the burnout on the judges stand! Did anyone get video? That captures the spirt of the club better than anything I have heard for a while.
