I had a lot of gasket issues with metering blocks. I threw away probably 500 gaskets that were brand new due to fuel pulling through them.
After going through a dozen different types, I bought a load of them that seal perfectly.

As mentioned above, block and main body need to be flat and have nothing holding it off.

If you want these parts, drop me a line and I'll get the mrs to pull them.

I'm also available for more detailed assistance via email if needed.

When looking for cores
1848s are closest to the original carbs at 485cfm
1849 are 550s
1850 are 600.

My choice is the 1848s for a mild 289. But 1850 cores are cheaper.
As Doug mentioned, too large isn't really a thing.
Worst case, 2, 1850s are really just a 600double pumper.

As an actual sailor, if we were counted as a group, our consumption is much higher per capita.
Those are rookie numbers!!!
Wrap it in some seaweed and set it on some rice man. 😂

Std Auto choke and cap. I've seen GTA and GTI caps on them.
Choke plunger is the typical two piece unit found on my cobrajet stuff.

I may be considered an expert with original Ford Holleys, but I really am quite ignorant regarding most new holleys.
I simply don't have much exposure to them.
The little experience I have is mentioned above. Most new 4v 600s are set lean, the end user is typically a guy with a stock pickup truck.
If your engine is mellow as described you will be fine.
On an engine like mine, the street avengers would be out of range.

I will say.
95% of all carb issues are related to incorrect fuel pressure, weak ignition, incorrect distributor timing.
Make certain to have all other variables in range.

The street warriors are going to work if you have a small cam and high idle vac.
If you have a larger more aggressive cam you may have issues with idle and transition to main circuit.

My carb business is booked for about a year...
But if you want to tackle those yourself I'd be happy to coach you through it all.

The care for these is fairly specific, but not much different than any other holley.
I also have some blog posts specifically detailing multicarb ford setups on my page afscarbs.com
Feel free to check them out and also feel free to ask me anything.
I've done a few of these setups 😉

Missing baseplate screws in not an issue.
Factory carbs did come with 8, but almost every generic and aftermarket carb has left the factory with 6 and never a problem.

I just did a set of BU/BT dual 780cfm carbs for a member here who has a 427 medium riser in a Boss car.
