I have been watching the auction on and off for years and I have seen the gradual decline of Shelby prices, now I am keeping my shelby's so for me it's a moot point, but I am still shocked to see how down Shelby prices are. I just watched a 67 GT500 sell for 82k at barrett, I about fell out of my chair!

Is it over saturation ? just too many new Shelby's ? or ?

Interesting question..

I thought the same thing, but was told by someone in the know that there was a MAJOR problem with that car in question, and everyone knew it.  Prices aren't really down, in fact, I feel they are actually up for good cars.

All, a controversial subject.  Any of them however are better then stock iron manifolds. You can argue over the size of the primary tubes etc, but one thing for sure, there isn't any FE that needs tri-y headers for more torque.

The issue is installing a set. Some people pull off the heads, drop the headers in, get as many bolts started as they can, then bolt the heads back on.

The Hookers will fit but take a hammer with a ding here and a ding there to clear weird places of interference. The primary tubes are also on the small side. Collectors angle down a little to much since they are intended to run open on a race car, not necessarily plumb to a full exhaust system.

The real "Super comps" are 2-1/8" tubes and hang down like a gorilla dragging it's knuckles on the ground. They are also thinner for lower gross weight.

Personally I would recommend buying them uncoated, fitting them to your car, then send them out for coating.

Save the original manifolds for when you sell the car.
Was the taking off the heads direction some kind of a typo? I have never heard of someone taking off the cylinder heads to install headers  :o. I only mention it because I could envision a collective "gulp" in the "force" as people read that . That might just scare the hell out of a newbie to FE Mustangs/Shelby's.

I just got off the phone with Sam.  He says he'll do it, but he's got to get a vintage Mk II Cobra when he's done filming.  That seems fair.

Here are my suggestions as to who should be cast to play Carroll Shelby.

For his younger years:  Andrew Garfield

Later in life: Sam Elliot

Kieth is to thank.  He surprised me when he sent these two screen grabs.  Wow, what a difference.  I finally see bronze.

Today I was speaking with my friend Kieth Champine (SFM66H) from the forum about one of our favorite subjects, USL on 1967's.  The topic of the car used on the 67 brochure came up.  I mistakenly thought that this same car (believed to be car 176) was also in the famous 1967 commercial.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYD8w-nP89s

Who could blame me when all I was ever able to find of this video was of the poorest quality?  I used to believe that the car in the opening scene might be nightmist blue.  Well, Kieth showed me the best version of this commercial where it is obvious that the first car is instead a dark moss green and the second is NOT 176, but rather a bronze car.  What a difference.  I wanted to post this incase any of the newer members hadn't seen this great quality version.

Now, it's been said that the dark moss car might be no. 003, but what would the bronze car be?

Thanks for posting the pictures, Dave. You are truly living the dream and doing it right. You're driving your car and sharing it with the public. That's my idea of fun. And for the few people who know what they're looking at, yours may be the only REAL early Shelby they will ever see in person.

Beautiful car... and lovely daughter if I may say so.

Steve

+1  very nice!

Great for you Corey!  Car looks awesome, I'm sure it was a hit at school.  The real question is will you ever give her the keys in the future so she can drive it there herself?

The picture posting is perhaps the most important feature in many discussions. The way it is now, I just can't respond the way I want to in a discussion by posting a picture to show what I am referring to.

Why it is not corrected can only be answered by one person who has chosen not to respond and participate in this discussion. Actually, I consider that as a response, i.e., "it's not going to happen".

It seems clear to me. What we have, is the way it is and the way it will stay. I've accepted that but it's just an unfortunate scenario created by the powers that be.

I'd have to agree with you on this one. Hopefully and with patience Ron Richards will be at SAAC 43 (aka computerworks). I or someone will need to confront him there in a tactful way (maybe at the hotel in the evening) and not piss him off as he will be busy with the convention and bring it up in conversation.

NorCal SAAC is assisting SAAC with the convention planning. Feedback from Michael M. has mentioned at our BoD meetings that it too has been challenging communicating with both Ron and Curt. So we need to tread lightly when bringing up this topic of the forum pic posting. Hopefully this issue can be addressed.

I too post multiple images (i.e. CSX2196 the Flip Top Cobra as an example...24 on that topic). I too have refrained from posting. My hopes are to get the current forum V2.0 back to the point of posting as it was and or at least a reason why we can't.

Oh, by the way. I DO have images of girls bent over the hoods.

Cheers,
~Earl J

Then we really need to fix this photo posting issue ASAP!   ;D

That is what I was hoping for, but thanks Paul.

Ha, I saw it Ruben, but way too rich for my blood even if I had the need for such a rare item!

Yeah, but it's like 6 months before I will get the molding back.  I'd hate to have to park the car until then.
#1515
I'm waiting (quite a while) for a reputable place near me to polish and restore the stainless molding around the front windshield and back windows of my car.  In the meantime, I contemplated using a reproduction set of molding for the interim.  Is any of it of any value, or is it like the repop window gaskets (they just place suck)?  Is there a source for a better quality?  In the end, I will be installing the original molding that's been fixed and polished.

Thanks!
