The Lounge / Re: 67 GT500 featured in NY Times article

Well stated we concur and great article

I don't read the Times but read this article.  Where we get together to meet with our cars on Friday nights we have a lot of people come by. It's a heavy tourist area.  Many visitors who fly into DFW come to the old town atmosphere for local cuisine and craft beers and  local wines.

I get a lot of questions about my car. The disconnect seems to be most are used modern cars that are so much more forgiving. Anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, proportional steering, all wheel drive, etc.
The Shelby is a different monster all together. Very unforgiving, and will bite you if you make any mistake under power. Traction lok will bring the ass-end of the car around on you very quick.
They require an entirely different skill set to operate safely. This to go along with watching for all the other idiot aloof drivers who should have their cell phone stuffed in their posterior.
I try not to be on edge, but I am one of the most defensive drivers out there. I grew up driving in So Ca.  I used to take my Harley out and drive the coast line from Long Beach Traffic Circle to Newport Beach.  Driving in areas where many of the Vietnamese had resettled was absolutely scary coming up from PCH if I decided to return home on the 405 instead of down Pacific Coast Highway.

Back to the topic at hand......

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Jimmy is dead
And his car is too....

Actually the car still lives as recycled tuna cans...

Correct an eliminator that has been customized

Eliminator

Looks like the name on the chain guard is Finkinator.  Never heard of it, but it could be something from the mind of Ed Roth.

If you could rehydrate  those raisins.....thatd be grapes.....

YUUUP !

Could the car still exist? It could. There are plenty of motivations for it to be off radar. There are plenty of owners who do not have any knowledge of SAAC.

It seems kind of contradictory to definitively say “ its gone “ and at the same time believe a fake could not be identified.

As Mr. Gaines stated earlier it will get a thorough evaluation. It will be similar to the two Bullitt cars. One passes muster and the other does not.

Many have tried to present fakes and many have failed. Any car presented in restored condition will always be suspect. If it does exist it needs to be shown, like Lil Red, as found. That was a very wise decision.

I am very confident people like and including, Mr. Gaines and Mr. Speegle have looked at more 1967 San Jose cars than any other fantasy cabal of forgers.

If I told you how perfect last week was on the water you wouldn't believe me.  Looks like it's going to be a repeat

Today's inspirational qoute:

O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
