Appeals / Re: Looking for info. on 0F03R481669

Gotta jump in here...

I inspected the car and I'm sure it's a real car.
However, because it was discovered at the shop the State of Oklahoma was convinced everything at the shop was suspect.
I believe they did a disservice by assuming every car at the facility was a "clone" or was being built illegally.
At that time they just assumed "guilt by association".

If someone raided a shop that was selling fake Van Gogh's shouldn't they make sure there weren't real Van Gogh's before they destroyed everything?

I would think because there's history on the car up to 2013 it would be somewhat important to contact Mr. 2013 and see if he sold the vehicle and if by chance to a shop or buyer in Oklahoma.

Or he could say the car is sitting in his garage and I could be 100% wrong.

Just my .02...

Up For Auction / Re: 1969 GT350
« on: September 21, 2020, 08:18:04 AM »
This car was for sale in Long Island approximately 10 years ago at an estate sale. Same shape as it is now. The craftsmanship was sub par then and I cant see it having been approved upon since then. It was just recently bought from another guy here in the spring then put on Craigslist and sold again in the beginning of this July. One would really have to inspect personally before committing to such a purchase. Not trying to bash the car on an open forum it. This is just from my observations. Mike G.

Sorry I am trying to resize picture. Can anyone tell me the correct size that works?

I looked at the car at that estate sale back then....

The "bidding " process was rigged and unprofessional...

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: Hidden Ford VIN
« on: August 30, 2020, 01:55:42 PM »
Car 006 built Nov 67 has a single VIN number on the drivers side and a double VIN on the passengers side.
It also was double stamped on the Shelby tag.
IMHO there is no value added by these features and only shows some if the inconsistencies during manufacturing.

That's quite interesting...~!
Thanks for sharing...

Wanted to Buy / Re: WTB: 7L, 7M or 8A 428 PI Block
« on: August 30, 2020, 09:12:26 AM »
I would want a minimum of 4 weeks and would not be shocked to see one cast 8 - 10 weeks before the build, especially if the car was built somewhere besides Dearborn. 428 blocks were likely not cast more than once or twice a month. Engine building of 428's likely happened one or two days a month, and it only happened at Dearborn Engine Plant. Far different situation than a 390GT or a 289-2V.

That block has been for sale for quite a while. I saw it when I was looking for a block about 10-11 months ago.

You're right, it looks nice and it's expensive. Add in a sleeve and some tests for core shifts and cracks and it becomes an expensive crap shoot. Additionally, it's 8A29 cast date could be a killer for mtdubvee. He's looking for 8A8. A Jan 29, 1968 block cast date was a little too close to my 02/14/1968 car build date for my liking. I was told that a block cast date "sweet spot" would be 4 to 6 weeks before a car's build date. My original head are dated late Dec 1967, so I wanted a block close to them.

I have to agree with this...

From my very, very limited knowledge of original engine blocks dated to their original vehicles I see more like 4-8 weeks...

Why does every car have to be concours?

Thank you..!

Someone finally asked the question....

The answer is more important. It doesn't. Make a decision to buy or not to on your own.

Stop interfering in others sales. All that matters is YOU are not buying it, so leave it alone.

I couldn't agree with you more.....

I think I had this car at one time...

Being a factory 4.30 makes it very rare....

I don’t know why there are so many references towards Concours and losing points. That’s not really the question here. As Corelsnake said 99% of people would not enter concours they just don’t have the stomach for it. Paint it whatever colour you like, hell Chase Fox’s with it if you like who cares. It’s your car.

Well said.......

1)....You can paint it anything you want.  It's yours and don't worry about the Shelby Police reminding you
it's a color change.

2)....There's nothing wrong with Lime Gold especially with no Lemans and four Magstars.....IMO...
Here's a GT 500 with Ten Spokes......

I think it looks pretty good...

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 67 Spec Case Question
« on: July 30, 2020, 01:51:43 PM »
   Bret,
One of mine is dated 6F2 , so right in line with yours. Finished cases would be warehoused at the Wayne axle plant for "builds" they did. "Some" out of a "run" would be sent to Parts and Service division for OTC sales. "My " speculation is the inventory ran low ( or out) and the only foundry with available time was the "Specialty" foundry. So a run of a thousand or so was done with the SPEC "label".
   Randy

Mine is dated......6F2...
Imagine that.....
