The world better be in a whole lot better shape! But we did ity last year in the worst of times, so 2021 is going to be great. Been on the fence? Join us this time.

Happy Pre-Thanksgiving to all!

The end of 2020 is with sight, it has been a very interesting year. Hoping 2021 returns us to more of a normal life?

In spite of all the difficulties, we had a very good year. We made Cars & Coffee work, the Regional meet went better than expected, and we adapted to new ways to keep in touch with everybody.

The last ZOOM meeting is Monday eve, Nov 16 at 7:00 PM. Here is the link:

No password, waiting room when logging in, Dan will accept you into the meeting. Should be fun, informative, and chaotic! I’ll be on from 6:30 onwards, so can help with any log-in problems before the start. As usual, we’ll be social for a little bit, allow for any late log-ins, and then dive in. Pizza and beverage optional!
Attached to this e-mail is the meeting agenda. Please contact Dan if you see any glaring errors, want to have something added, or anything relating to the meeting.

Also attached are two pictured from the club presentation of the 2020 NEREG donation. Great time, and they were very appreciative.

And, 2021 is just around the corner, so dues are again open. Mail or on the club website (https://www.lvpasaac.com/store/memberships.html)

Looking forwards to seeing you then, keep warm, safe, and sane!

I'll toss in a few Monkey wrenches!

Agreed above, the motor could be moving during shifts due to soft motor mounts, binding the "Z" bar, and the once fluid action is now jammed or harder. Also, no one has talked about the flywheel. Is it warped, burnt, cracked, too old to work well? If it is unhappy, change that.

I use the SPEC clutch. It's stock style, but a little beefier. Has held up to all my shenanigans, survived two exploding engines.

Also, if you are not concerned about being perfect, consider an external hydraulic set-up? Superior to any mechanical linkage.

Also, the 68 Sequentials were NOT Cougar or T-Bird based, rather an aftermarket piece purchased from J.C. Whitney. Able to install just in the trunk, but also made the brake lights sequence, which was illegal in California, New York, and Florida. Cars sold new in those states had the units removed.

The 65-68 T-Bird/Cougar Sequentials were such an interwoven wiring system, it could not be integrated. The 69-70 Shelby's used the Modern solid state trunk sequential unit by adapting the 69-70 Cougar rear wiring harness into the Mustang.

Another vote for larger cables. on my '69 428, never cranked hot. I had access to welding cables, so made up a full set of 1/0 cables, and a new quality solenoid, cranked fast every time.

I also had an electronic ignition, so that helped in the spark department.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Cooling problems
« on: September 30, 2020, 07:43:24 AM »
Agreed with Bob on two counts

1 - Overbore. The engine cylinder walls are just now too thin, transfer much more heat, and the cooling system cannot disperse it with not big amount of air flow.

2 - Heat dissipation - If the cooling system is compromised - old/clogged radiator - it will also continue the upward spiral of heat. Do a quick A-B comparison, buy a cheap radiator from e-bay/RockAuto, and see if it makes a difference.

And, agreed on the gauge - Why not get a cheap mechanical gauge, just toss it in, and see the temps more accurately displayed?

Heat has to be dispersed somehow.

SAAC-45 / Re: SAAC-45 Convention Update
« on: September 29, 2020, 12:04:02 PM »
Track expenses are the big ticket item. I can correlate, as I have run, priced, and set up track days. Three days at a major facility is $50 - 75K plus with all the extras. If SAAC was to shrink down to a one-day event at a lesser track, such as NJMP, NOLA, Autobahn, Willow, or other club-style tracks, they could probably do so solo, but it requires a major re-think of the convention. And pricing.

The Bosses like a name track, and Bob did identify on who's coattails we ride. It is felt that we'll attract more going to a famous place.

Me personally, I don't care, as long as the track is fun. Why not just have a one-day track frenzy, and spend another day with the car shows at the host hotel location, and maybe other fun social things? Heck, I've been asking for years at the Jersey Shore, one day at NJMP, car show on the boardwalk the second day, and one day in the Pine Barrens hunting for Jimmy Hoffa or other Soprano's victims......
