I would love this as a project.  Either go back as a 68 Shelby clone or sell original Shelby pieces
and do a restoration on a big block GT Mustang with Silver Frost Paint.

Issue that I see is the Ford VIN under the Shelby repop tag.  It looks it is hand stenciled?

What are your thoughts?

I was a bit disgruntled as I began to scrub some bugs of my windshield this morning.  Then suddenly, I remembered the smile on my new friends 74-year-old face.  As Charlie and I meandered the back-county roads of Texas, lighting up the tires on occasion, and the awesome sound of a dual quad carburetor kicking in at the command of a solid-lifter, 427 side-oiler.

Yes, in the short duration of 30 minutes, we discussed his 66 big-block (4-speed) Impala back home in Ohio.  Time running out this season for his back-road adventures, while in Texas it is just beginning.   His wife purchased the car for him back in 78 and it has been a love affair ever since.  We discussed his Chevy and my Ford, the convenience of power-steering, the inconvenience of overheating, 4 speed vs automatic.  I lamented the fact that I had C6 automatic as he extolled the virtues of a 4 speed, while all along wishing for a Powerglide due to his age.

Concerned that I had an ignition miss or carburetor issue, only to be reassured by Charlie that after that last burnout, the Shelby needed nothing more than another tank of gas.  It was a good morning, bugs and all.

My car had a reproduction sway bar on it when purchased.  Does anyone have the 67/68 15/16 sway bar they are willing to part with?

Not mine of course.  Too bad the owner did not keep the car.  Special paint, loaded with options.
My guess would be a silver color with the "red paint stripe" option.

Looks like a great platform for a restoration - California car.  Factory 76B, Silver Frost with deluxe red pony.  Nice!
However, hard to justify the 39K asking price.

Hey Guys.

I am running a 67 date 427 Side Oiler - MR in my 67 Shelby GT500.   The carburetors are date matched C5AF-9510-BD/BC.  The primary carburetor has a provision for a choke plate, but does not have one installed.  The BC does not have one and is correct from the factory.

Is there an application (67 R code Fairlane or Cobra)  that did not use a choke plate on the primary or has this carb been modified?   What about the primary for the Shelby application BJ/BK. Does it have a choke plate?

Sending the carbs out for complete rebuild and want to know if I should have the choke plate added?

Question.  Is the 5/16th one piece fuel line (early 67 cars) used throughout the 67 production or did it change to the 2 piece 3/8 line later in production?  I know that the one piece runs down the transmission tunnel whereas the two piece runs along the rocker. What other differences are there besides the crossover shield?

What size fuel line did the 67 Shelby have from the pump to the carb log?

I flattened a section my 5/16th fuel line jacking the car up with my floor jack.  I am considering replacing it with
a 3/8 line since I have a 427 side oiler, MR.

Is this pic and measurement (3.75") accurate for an early car with the chrome trim around the top?  I have a 67 GT 500 if that makes difference.

Do you guys think this system is going to hang too low?   Ordered some tips that I think will work.  More pics next week.

Has anyone decided not to hook-up their ammeter gauge?   I am ready to install it, but after reading so many "warnings" about fires etc., and no inline fuse for the ammeter, I am questioning whether I should even hook it up.   What is the concensus of those driving their cars?

This was my first visit to Fall Hershey.  Hershey was on my bucket list for many years and I have not been disappointed.

Personal Reflections...
Vendors are hard working (primarily older generation) that enjoyed the camaraderie of Hershey and the sell of their parts/goods.
Although there were organized vendors representing larger, well known companies, the majority of vendors were mom and pop type establishments.
Ford Model A/T (or equivalent) well represented, but prices falling for cars and parts.
Ford Thunderbird - Best bargain at this time as quality cars range from 15k - 45k.
1960's Model Year - Steady to high prices for quality cars
1970's Model Year - Same as above
1980's Model Year - Not as well represented.

These are the original door panels with Burtons Brushed Aluminum Door Panel Inserts.  While not bad for a 50 year old Ford product there are a few cracks etc in the panels.

I tried to restore the original inserts and they came out looking like a wavy, platinum something or the other!


I am not posting this in the Concourse section so you know that I am not going that route,  but I still try to keep as many original parts as possible.  Well, maybe not the 427 Side Oiler!

Should I just purchase new repop panels?   It would be so glaringly obvious if I don't!

Priced out a couple plating shops in Houston, Tx for the fold-down rear seat - 12 piece on my 1967. This did not include the piano hinge (if that is what it's called).

Airline Plating - $650.00
A-1 Chrome - $650.00
Atlas Plating - $850.00

I went with Airline Plating and picked up the pieces today. They did a good job, but can see some imperfections in a few of the pieces.

I used A-1 Chrome before as it is closer to my home. They have my vent window frames now and quoted $350.00 to do both. That is $175.00 a piece and seems like a good price. Will post a pic once I pick them up.

The vent window glass frame and glass in the pic are original. Went with Scott Drake repop on the small handle and have this to show for it!

CarLite date 6 M. December 66.  Most metal, glass, and mechanical components on the car are dated 6M or 7A

I am becoming pretty good using the buffer and Eastwood materials.

While looking at the 69 GT 500 in the Auction section, I noticed that it had a a Vehicle Inspection Sticker from 1976. Pic posted below.
I like seeing those along with other items like buck tags from the 65-66 Mustang.  They are great for record keeping and nostalgia.

I had two on my car when I purchased it.  A 1977 Vermont indicating 59,908 on the odometer at the time of the inspection and a 1978 Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Registry.  The Massachusetts sticker did not have as much info indicated as what was found on the Vermont.  The previous owner was from Massachusetts, but went to school in Vermont.

Anybody else have any old stickers?

How are everyone's 67 Registry write-ups coming along?  I submitted mine with a nice picture that my son took.   Dave said that I had way too much information, but I guess that is a good thing.  After several years of research, I was able to track down two more of the original owners dating all the way back to 1968.  I love the research and stories on these cars.  Adding that info to the registry makes me feel like a good steward and care taker.   Hopefully the generations to come will appreciate that fact!

I had Richard at R&B Vintage Auto Radio do a full aurora conversion on my radio.
Was trying to figure out what to do with the USB/Aux In port, so I ordered a repop
filler panel from NPD and began experimenting.

This is where I decided to mount it as it keeps everything within reach and close by.
The radio is not in the car yet, but wanted to think through all the locations and speaker wiring.  Just using kick-panel speakers and dual cone Pioneer on top in the original speaker location.

Cleaning the Amp/Oil Pressure gauge and pod.
Noticed that the bulbs were painted green. 
Is that a PO addition or factory?
