Not till you mentioned it in the deleted For Sale post.  ;)

It's not rocket science  ;D

"This Forum is for listing cars that you personally have for sale. Please limit ALL replies in this forum to specific questions, to the seller, about the car.

Cross-talk, or conversations about the item among members, should be made on another thread in the Discussion area....not on the For Sale thread."

Then again, for some, maybe it is  ::)

Bill

Not rocket science, to avoid these issues, why not make the requirement of listing a car in the For Sale section to lock the thread as soon as the listing is posted.  Don't lock, post deleted, issue solved.

68cobra427: what does BAT mean?  Where did you end up selling it through?  I'm new to all this - and this thread caught my eye.  I've always wondered, if I ever decide to sell my car (68 GT500) what would I do?? My only knowledge is eBay and auction houses.  The suggestion posted by someone else, to put a very high reserve on ebay - to see what kind of offers you get - could cost a mint.  It is my understanding that ebay still collects fees for an unsold item - based on the reserve amount; correct?

Don't even think of selling yet.  ;D

Why not?  :-)  Actually, I never thought I'd even think of doing it until I got too old to drive - but my best friend that has spent more hours under the hood of that car has moved to another state.  I now feel lost without his support....so the thought does cross my mind at times.

Well, IF you decide to sell, chances are high you will find a good caretaker here at a fair price without a hassle.  Enjoy it as long as you can.

Thanks much to all! My friend, who discovered the problem, and is way more mechanical than I'll ever be - won't be back in the area for awhile - but I have forwarded all of your suggestions to him for when he comes back.  Thank you, again!  As for photos - well, she's a little rough.  :-)  It's been in storage for pretty much all the years I've owned it - since the 70's.  I'm hoping to some day - after it's safe and truly road worthy - to then take it to a body shop to have the 'personalization' done by the previous owned 'cleaned up' - then it will be ready for photos. :-)  [ps: thanks for the suggestion regarding disconnecting the battery when the car is not going to be in use for awhile]

We are a family here in the 68 Shelby world....... nothing too rough to share and only support to fellow owners.  I for one would love to see your car.  I don't care how rough, the 68's are the best.  ;D

Ok - maybe I'll get brave for your guys! lol!

Trust me, your car will be appreciated!  We love them all and so glad to see new cars that have been hidden away.

What is the story on the hood being what looks like a repro? It has 4 pin plates but no evidence of pins being installed at the back to match the plates at the rear of the hood.

I was thinking it's a cosmetic thing making it look like a lift hood from the drag car days?
The pin plates are one clue. I guess you didn't pick up on the hood latch area.

Not till you mentioned it in the deleted For Sale post.  ;)

I am dumb enough to make one into a street car.

Far from dumb..... amazingly talented.  I want to see any car you build.

This is my clone. I might have to do a NASCAR themed car next.

Beautiful car and true craftsmanship.

I like the blue/gold proving grounds car if you are doing another one.  ;)

Where was the listing?  Craigslist, ebay, ??  What state does the seller claim to be in?

Good luck, keep us posted on your finding and post some pictures of your car.  ;)

When you do find the issue, I would recommend investing in a battery disconnect or just disconnect the battery while the car is not being used.

Great car!  Love the picture of the shed it was hiding in.

Where is he listing the car and where does he claim to be located?  If nothing else, hopefully you can avoid having him scam anyone else.

C5HM, good stuff!  I think you provided lots of good information back in Forum 1.0 which unfortunate is lost forever.  I recall you doing some neat restorations.
