Following it since 1993 actually and having built one of the earliest Bullitt websites for it with David Kunz and Anthony Bologna (eye witness of the movie), David had the barn pics since 1997.

I'd say this car certainly is worth to see it today. Compare the barn pic against it when you see it. HVA obviously confirmed it is the true one and registered it as #21 of historic valuable cars.

Then again I think one of the most important movie car -  the Bullitt car - is worth to hold another mystery for the future ... the story does not end here or after the tour.

The other Mexico car #558 will most probably appear at the 55th at the Mustang Owners museum.

There were never 3, only 2, but WB or other crew employees built a few that popped up later as the "third" or "true ones".

I like the title and 2 articles for some reason 8)

Good to read Craig Conleys interview as well and his narration of finding 5R107...knowing a few of the previous owners history bits from Sepp Reiter and Friedhelm Theisen.

Web does not forget anything. At least you could save what you need.
2017 and the third or fourth tab to the right shows the index pages for a good start.

Another frontal shot of the engines underside back then in the RB museum. Seems there was little space downward and upward left:-)

The ad today says a HM build GT40 engine was installed early on.

    Wolfgang,
Who modified the scoop opening? I assume it is for more clearance above the Webers. "To me'' it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Need to review my notes, what Rob told me, but I think from memory, he offered Ron two cars, this one was the worse one (since raced) by Herbert Mueller. I took a pic from the opening back then with a flash, because I was interested in that detail as well. Seemed to be there was enough space, but then equal volumetric airstream may have required additional space.
I had no information on the restoration itself, but Ron could certainly answer himself, if he is still around?

Yes, know this car personaly from it staying in the Rosss Bianco collection. Had been in touch with Muellers son Daniel and Robert de la Rive Box, who was the swiss dealer who sold it to Ron.
Actually when the Rosso Bianco collection was dissolved upon closing of the museum in Aschaffenburg, I asked if Ron had gotten those news. He had not even been notified yet by the R.B. museum (probably since Ron had returned to the US in the meantime), so he was happy to hear the news and claimed ownership immediately with the agents, before the collection got mostly sold to a museum in the Netherland and several cars being auctioned off.

Here is a pic of its first appearance at the Ring after the restoration out of R.de la Rive Box book.

You're already a great knowledge hub for others in Europe, Alan.
Always appreciated the visits in your shop to learn something more about the detailing of Shelbys.

The rest of the hangar shows a number of other crashed cars and stripped front and rear ends amongst other parts.

Saved some pics - from JC - from inside (not outside as gt350hr indicated above for the J car)
This is #148627 (T/A) under wraps and the door #5 GT40 inside

There had been more shots of a Galaxie front clip.
Lee might have saved a few parts he told John at that time.

Info from Dr. John Craft on the B302 Forum in 2004 about his visit at HM back then..

"...the remains of the Ken Miles J Car(in which he died at Riverside), the remains of the Les Ritchie AFX Mustang... and the remains of the Fireball Roberts '64 H&M Galaxie (in which he was horribly burned at the World 600 in May 1964). When Ford cut H&M loose at the end of the '70 season (via letter dated 12/2/1970), they transfered ownership of the hulks to H&M.  Per Lee Holman, the cars were ultimately cut up. "

I have used the VHT vynil prep and dye stuff 20 years ago on my console and it still adheres. Used washing detergent (we call it Waschbenzin) to clean the vynil. A green cleaner is for sure better.

Back in 2003 1999 the previous owner Erwin Derichs told me this below. Erich had a rather good reputation in racer circles and serviced many others in a very helpfull manner as well. I'd rather guess he got a misrepresented car himself that wasn't doubted for a very long time then or it has been rebodied at some time later on?

" I was at that time in close contact to an American guy and we often talked about Mustangs. In 1988 he called me one day and said `Hey Erwin, didn't you tell me that you are keen on racing a Mustang. I've just got four of them in my stable. Shall I send them?`Well, I asked him to send only one for the moment and it was the Shelby GT350 I still own today, the VIN is SFM5S354. This is the story of how I came across Mustangs. Later the other Hardtop joined our team."
