CSX 2000 Series / Re: Lets get some cobra pictures back up!
« on: July 06, 2021, 04:37:26 PM »
Some quite new online pics from Cobra races 63-65 in Germany and Spa/Belgium.
http://dieterberg-oldtimer.de/19640531_nurburgring_1000-km-rennen_training/

Including early race of the GT40.
Check out the menu point "was gibt es hier zu sehen" for other races.

At the same Bruxelles Autoshow as 5R209 - CSX2299 with 1X  MFG 013, January 1966.
By best knowledge CSX2601 and CSX2299 differ with their rear lights arrangement, so this should be CSX2299.

R-Shelbys in Europe:
5R539 was sent directly to Claude, not via FAV, it was owned by Ford Belgium, Antwerp and just driven by Claude (as he confirmed himself), it had a red on white 43.S.10 licence plate with several holes, the number/letter combination indicates that it was a plate used until 1962.
5R209 was obviously sent to Bruxelles autoshow from FAV (the picture was taken at the show by Emil Sterckx, a former and current dutch Mustang racer), the contract orgainzed between Ford France and Martial Delalande/J.P. Hanrioud (with swiss geneve licence plates), before being used by the Ecurie Filipinetti/Peter Schetty. Acc. to some earlier report Ford France had a problem to licence these racing cars and used sometimes belgium or other countries licence plates, if possible.
5R107 was given to Ford Germany/Jochen Neerpasch, later appeared with the PKX207D (1966 plates) english licence plates for a period, so most probably still in ownership of FAV.
5R097 - very few early pics around, sold from FAV to Ecurie Filipinetti appeared only with swiss Geneve licence plates.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustero?
« on: June 05, 2021, 12:50:39 AM »
I collected a few Musteros on my scrap page http://www.ponysite.de/pony/joke.htm, which I need to update indeed with more samples. Another Shelby-ized Mustero appeard in France, but wasn't real as well.

A former employee of BH passed by in 2003 and made a comment on the production run.
From the ones I heard about over decades a production of 25-30 is more realistic than 50.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: Original Ford GT - Transporters
« on: June 01, 2021, 05:04:55 PM »
The b/w scan wasn't any better, but here is another shot of the red Thames transporter (1965) with a B for 64 on the licence plate as well.

..so back to the white Ford GT ones, sorry.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: Original Ford GT - Transporters

Alan Mann Racing Team used to have a transporter early 1964 at the Monte, which looks very similar to a Strachan with the same roof ending and the lower sideline, yet obviously with a second cargo side door ...probably longer. Can't read the licence plate, but may search for the original scans sent in by ex-mechanic David Campion.

Yes,  I think that was out of that DST brochure.

and another
Could be rather the prep work of the Barris Zebra in contrary to my first assumption on FB.
The DST Mustang III started this way.

Paging through the Barris books, I think the blue-silver one is the Cobra Bahman they had on the Caravan. Little else to find on the web. But it could be - since Passino was involved - and the other shots show lots of 427 engines, that Barris put one in, the hood scoop may indicate that? The caption says, everybody wanted to hear the engine at the Caravan tour, that's why the sidepipes were blueish after the tour.

41
Just quoted what they wrote...I don't have Cobra related material on hand.

I understood CSX2042 and CSX2046 were demonstrator cars as was CSX2048 with similar dates of production.
Maybe the Barris car was build on CSX2048 and the red and yellow were the other ones used for some time during the Caravan only?

Interesting clippings, obviously show the early  Caravan Cobra during its yellow paint time.
It obviously also carried a hardtop for a period as seen in the above link.
Not sure which was the "pearlescent color" it was in for some time acc. to RM...
If it was red ex-factory, CSX2048 must have had at least 3 different paints.

The other Ford Custom Car Caravan Cobra:
Barris/Fetherston explain in their book that they got a brand new 427 Cobra and customised it with the headrest, rear fender shape and sidepipes plus painted it a organic blue/silver pearl called shade for the Custom Car Caravan.

Obviously CSX2048 (if so).

Found a pic in an online norwegian Photo archive thanks to a hint to other shots. Obviously photographer Ola J. Borge worked for a freight company and may have received or taken himself some shots at DST in the days of the 1964 Ford Custom Car caravan. Amongst them a rare picture of the Cobra on the transporter.

Here is a pic of it during the FCC caravan from my archive.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: 240 speedo
« on: February 19, 2021, 11:53:06 AM »
They state this in the text. "Die Skala ist identisch zur original Shelby Skala, allerdings ohne redline."
means "Made identical to the original Shelby scale, yet without redline. "

Since this is advertised as a one-off ..maybe it ..could be also it was just restored and the face reprinted only. I have no further relation to that company, so do not know. 395CHF sounds reasonable.
200 km/h speedos typically go for 250-350 Euro.

BTW the C8ZF-17265 Kilo-N print is the same for the 68 200kmh speedo.
Tachman prints a label with KM-00X above the Miles-N imprint on his conversions.

The 1967-1978 Ford parts export list only lists a 200km/h speedo with an -H extension, no 240km/h speedo for 67/68, but obviously they exist. Congratulations.
