If an original bumper is rechromed, the new plating can be so thick it covers the raised ridge.

Has anyone ever tried making the upper control arm supports using a block of 4" x 4" wood cut to proper length and a notch cut in the end for the frame rail contact point.  I can't weld so this might be a good alternative for me.  Let me know if anyone has done this successfully so I can get the dimensions.  Thanks.

Jim Cowles sold me restored upper/lower control arms back in 2011 - see photos below.  They were restored by Gary Ericksen, and I have been told he used good quality boots and parts.  They still tore after 10 years of use, and jacking numerous times with the front tires free-hanging.  Perhaps that is normal, but I only drove 10K miles in that period.

Look at the upper control arm boots the next time you jack up your car with the tires hanging.  On my car, the rubber boots are contorted.

I'd buy a pair of upper control arm supports if they were available.

Steve, don't let the front tires hang like in this photo.  It is hard on the grease boots.

My upper ball joint grease boots tore when I jacked up the front end and let the upper control arms hang at full travel.  They mention a tool to support the upper control arms in the shop manuals to prevent this problem.  Just thought I would share my experience.

Moogs new 1 piece strut rod bushings are a great upgrade over the stock multiple piece units.

On BaT you have one on 09/13/21 for $262,589 and on 03/24/22 for $227,000. That's not counting fees

Dang, I should have kept mine that I sold in 2012 for much less.

The Woodstock sticker makes me think the convertible top is original.   :D

Is this convertible top original?  Same question for the front seat cover?

How can you tell?

Thanks.

I had a C6 rebuilt by a shop that insisted I install one of those right after the rebuild.  They wanted me to run it for a month or so.

I could be wrong, but I have always thought some dealers have "friends" in law enforcement that can run VIN searches to get owner's names and addresses.   When you see a relatively large number of cars that seem to come out of nowhere for sale, it seems suspect to me.

Ok thanks.  I am going to look at a 13,000 mile all original convertible and am trying to get educated on the 70 unique parts.  Can you see the numbers on the spoiler if it is installed?

Is there a way to identify an original front spoiler for a 1970 shelby?  Were the shelby spoilers different from the spoilers on Boss or Mach 1's?

Thanks.

The hole for my antenna was drilled too far forward on my early car #100.  The pm300 shaft contacts the wheel housing, and I have a forward tilt to the antenna on the top side.  I bought one of the eBay non functional ones and use a dipole antenna under the dash pad, which works well.
