Replicas and Tribute / 65 Instrument Cluster Lamp Socket
« on: June 05, 2019, 08:11:56 PM »
Have a 65 Mustang instrument cluster and am having hard time keeping the oil and alternator lamp socket in the cluster. Socket will stay in place until you move the cluster, then it falls out. What do you do to keep the socket inserted in the cluster? Replace socket with something that fits tight, glue it in or something really drastic?

Replicas and Tribute / 65 Fastback Rear Courtesy Light
« on: May 14, 2019, 07:42:10 PM »
The rear side panels of a 65 fastback each contain a courtesy light that has a tube bonded to the back side of the panel. What purpose does the tube serve?
Have a car in shop that is missing the pass side courtesy light tube and have really never thought of why they are there in first place.
Thanks

Ask a Registrar / 65 GT350 Registrar

Has there been any discussion of creating a searchable reference document that contains data for each year that includes data points such as ride height front and rear, spring suppliers, front and rear, spark plugs, etc.? Might consider links to pictures of original parts and their Ford part numbers.
Thanks for considering

Almost fell out of my chair. Hysterically funny. I do appreciate all the information about cam selection. Please, everyone, check the Politics at the door. Its about the cars. But, when I do walk into a gun store, I tell the clerk I need a gun and I add it to the collection. Sorry, not politically correct.

Replicas and Tribute / 65 Headers
« on: April 09, 2019, 10:05:01 PM »
For those of you with 4-tube headers on your 65 mustang 289/302 Windsor with a C4, what brand header did you select and why? Did you have clearance issues between collector and e-brake cable pivot point on drivers side? Header really close to drivers side frame right where hard fuel line is?
The old hookers I have dry fitted are too close to gas line and conflicts with emergency brake bracket mounted at front inside on drivers side frame rail. Other than getting a bigger hammer, not sure what to do here short of ordering a different supplier in hopes theirs fit better than the Hookers.

I went with the AFR 185 heads and the Comp Cams XE274HR. Checked with Comp Cams who said the XE274HR has 4 degrees advance built in so no need to do anything at crank sprocket. All forged rotating assembly with H-beam rods. Originally was a 347 but I decided to go with the 331  instead. Pistons have valve reliefs and should give me close to 10.4:1 compression.

Replicas and Tribute / Re: 65 Coil Spring
« on: April 07, 2019, 09:07:22 PM »
Had a difficult time getting them compressed enough to get in and out. But, was using a really cheesy compressor. Think the springs have been changed at some point. Even with the drop, it sits a bit high for my liking. Am thinking about getting another set that is a bit stiffer, but lets front sit bit lower. Springs under that much pressure will kill you.....

65 A-code with 1" drop applied to the upper control arm With the car frame rails sitting on jack stands and the wheel off the car, the upper control arm is as "relaxed" as it gets. How much pressure is the coil spring under at that point?

Replicas and Tribute / 65 Dual Fans for Radiator
« on: March 27, 2019, 06:44:24 PM »
Interested in obtaining suggestions for sourcing a dual fan radiator shroud for a 65 Mustang with a 331 stroker. Don't need the radiator, just some experience you might have as to best fan, size, etc.
Thanks

Replicas and Tribute / 65 EFI Return Line
« on: March 22, 2019, 11:38:43 PM »
Am installing the MSD Atomic 2900 EFI into sons 65 fastback and an curious how others mounted the return line to the fuel tank. Have seen some that mounted the fuel pump close to tank without a return line. Others mount pump in tank and must engineer a return of some sort. Any guidance on how best to do this?
Thanks

1965 GT350/R-Model / 65 3259 715 Holley
« on: March 06, 2019, 04:14:58 PM »
Ran across a 3259 715 Holley that looks like it has a 50CC accelerator pump instead of the 30CC I think were originally installed. What, if any, effects would the larger pump have on the carburetor, other than not being correct?

Thanks

Wanted to Buy / Re: 1965 66 hipo fan shroud

5S228 has the original fan shroud and it has the rubber pad on pass side near where front mounted battery would have been positioned. 5S228 is rear mount battery.
