My final Update as I figured it out for my tribute car
12/14/2024

Here is what I have: backing plates # 3209029/3209028 (Bendix). I have no idea what Fomoco product it is off as I bought them about 6 years ago on Ebay.  A U tube video suggested to use backing plates from an 85' Full size Ford.
The usual refrain is to use Ranger rear drums, but those leave a 1/8" gap between the backing plate and the drum.  Not going to work.
I ran into a U tube video and the person said to close the gap, buy rear drums that are from a 69 Cyclone with a 428.
These are part number 1639R (Raybestos).  Rock Auto had these and yes, the gap is closed and fits correctly.  So, there you go, this is what works.  BUT: seems these drums are about 3 pounds heavier than the Ranger drums.  At least you get the larger swept braking area.  Go figure: it's 3/4" wider times 10" Pi.
Small issue with the drum.  Just like on the Ranger drum, there are raised cooling fins along the entire perimeter of the Cyclone drum.
Hint: also seems that the brake combi kit (that's the return and hold down springs folks) come with the pins that hold down the shoes are a little short.  The correct pin length for the 2 1/2" shoe is 2 15/32".  You can order those at the local O'reilly's.
Had a conversation with a popular East Coast parts supplier.  They informed me that the people who were stamping the backing plates for them went out of business.  They were looking for a new supplier.

  I've owned my 67 GT 350 #0036 since 1971.  (January).  I'm the 3rd owner according to SAAC's records.
  Been a riot!

I have a 22 X 27 foot garage.  Due to the layout, I can fit 3 cars in it during the winter.  I built it in 1978 and at the time was all I could afford.

I do admire the folks who figured out how to put one or two four post lifts side-by-side to store their additional cars.

For those looking for a Jack Loftus Ford (Hinsdale IL0 or River Oaks Ford (Calumet City IL) they did not use metal cast tags.  Decals only.

Anybody gonna say that the Paxton doesn't appear on the list of factory optioned Paxton 67's?

I'm famous.  Wayne was at the car capsule display.  So, being a fellow GT 350 owner, I stepped up to say hello.  Heard the story (again) as to how he acquired his 65 GT 350.
Car Capsule: highly recommended for storage to keep your car dust free over the winter.

Yep, Pete Brock was there but must have been out for a break when I crossed his table. Anyone have any photos of him?

  Wait, there is more!
The green 68 GT 500 is #00488.  The owner has a sign suggesting it was in the registry long ago.
The Green 66 is #1716.  There is an older rear spoiler on it (picture #3) The owner said they thought the car was hit in the
rear.  The fiberglass trunk lid has a little distress to it.  Next to it was a T-5 65 convertible, 289 Hi Po, 4 speed car.  White with a red interior.  Bothe the 66 GT 350 and the T-5 were recently purchased at a Mecum auction in Dallas. (so he said)
The GT 40 is a Superformance tribute.  Nice job on that as it was in the GT 40 display.

There were not many 428 Cougars made.  Look close, the Cougar in picture #3 has an ASC sunroof.

Just a few more.  The best thing about this show is that after the show and awards are passed out, there was an hour of parade lap time to be used.

Often enough I see drums for sale here and on Ebay.  How about making certain the inside diameter of the drum does NOT exceed the factory limit by posting the measurement.  Most any quality Muffler and brake place will have a drum claliper to do this.

I see the assault using GM products on a FOMOCO web-board continues.
