An important question for us: Is Lil'Red to be brought out this year?  There is a suggestion that a "special GT 500" is to be there in the pre-show program they send out.

During last nights World Series game there was the movie advertisement on that rolling bill board you can see behind the home plate.

Just an observation made while my car was in-the-Show a couple of years ago.
Saturday morning from opening to about 1:00 PM is the busiest time, most amount of folks walking/looking.
After that, you can fire a cannon off and not hit anyone.  This includes Sunday, all day.  So, if you want pictures, want to chat with car owners, later Saturday and all day Sunday is the time to be there.

But he is asking for the gears not the axles.  I guess the spider ones.

Gulf colors.  Always an excellent choice.

Just buy another 67 Shelby, and switch roll bars.

215's are a challenge to fit in there, but, it will fit in there.  A little more difficult than a Speedway 350.  This is with an early car with the deeper tail light box.
This might be the place to drop a repop Speedway 350, just for looks.  The repop fits, and is a good "betweener" from your road tires and an original 350.

Nic's (1690) idea is pretty good too.

Windy City Region SAAC / Re: Morris car show
« on: October 09, 2019, 09:44:28 AM »
It has been a great show for years.  A couple of years ago some leadfoot in a Corvette got sideways leaving the show, the landowner saw it, an said, "thats enough", and cancelled future leases for the show to the Lions Club.  The Lions moved to the Grundy County Fair Grounds.  It used to be the first weekend in October.
Roughly a 1000 cars, they try to line them up by classes, when those overfill you can be anywhere, but, the judges find you.  Car judging is loosely a 5 minute walk-around.  Plenty to see.
The swap meet: Seems you have to get there early as it might take three hour to walk through.  Mostly GM parts but as any swap meet, always a crap shoot.

Concours Talk / Re: 1967 GT500 Engine Block Paint Overspray

Not mentioned but you don't want to miss it while you are painting:  Overspray along the intake along the front and rear gasket rails. Maybe about an inch up.

Other than the seals, which I had heard had to be replaced, do you not do anything with the compressor valves?

Nice job as usual JD.  Just a point out here: no "spec" case on the GT 350.

In short, the article is about how fast (therefore how much) the cost of a quality paint job runs.  It is pretty much all in the prep work, and in the teeny tiny details.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: MCA Judging Rules
« on: October 04, 2019, 07:10:54 PM »

It would be very unusual to have MCA judges judging Shelby's that are not also SAAC judges, or who have also judged at SAAC conventions.

It's been the same few people for years.  Kind of like Chicago Aldermen.
