Roos are fine, just don't corner one in the wild....

Agree, it's the drop bears you need to worry about

Appeals / Re: Good wood Festival of Speed questions
« on: August 08, 2019, 09:01:58 PM »
Out of the ordinary, but has anyone from SAAC ever been to the world known Goodwood Festival of Speed?

If so, as a driver, car owner or spectator?
We have a factory backed race car that may qualify.
Looking for any information before we submit a request for Invitation for the 2020 Event.
Thanks in advance,
John

We went in 2018 as spectators (but would love to take a car one day)

You could try talking to the members, from what I understand if they want your car then they will bring it in for you (cover costs) but as others have mentioned, needs to be pretty special or relevant.

On relevancy, each year there are different themes (and sub themes) as well as major publicity type events - on 2018 there was a celebration of DG's career with many cars that he had been part of represented - real ones, no clones (even a Boss from Australia was shipped in, a few from the US). There was also Fords release of the Bullet so they also bought in the one remaining original movie car

Was also a milestone for Landrover (70 I think), so they have car #1, #2 etc etc there as well. People we were with had a car there as well (on display at the main house, not on track), was not a race car but a lovely period light truck

Summary - needs to be real, needs to be relevant/unique/special

cheers

Credit to the seller though, he has updated the Ad (he actually seems like a genuine seller)

no expert - on my 65 track car  I run 225/60R15 Yokohama A032R's

These are not period correct obviously (and although they are "street legal" I would not recommend for street use as they tend to flick up loose stones etc). The choice of tyres in 60R15 is not very wide unfortunately, on my Shelby I run BFG TA's (which are also not period correct, but convenient)

Not sure anyone has the exact (registrars would have some idea I guess)

Early on in Australia, cars needed to be converted and I know there is at least 3 x 66's done

Mark

Deepest sympathies on the passing of your wife, can only imagine the effort it takes to "dust off" and move forward

There is another thread on the forum about the decline of SAAC/Interest waning on our cars etc  - Well your story proves to me that we are going strong - nothing is more stirring than the passion, personal connections and willingness to share our Shelby stories

I really appreciate your post (backstory) and look forward to your updates

cheers

Ask a Registrar / Re: 1966 GT350 Docs
« on: August 09, 2018, 08:32:09 PM »
What a great story!  Truly, the people that I've met through the Shelby community are top-notch (registrar or not).  I was telling a buddy today how I've had 2 different people from the old forum read my posts and PM me to ask for my mailing address.  Both times, I received a large manila folder with information about the dealership that my car was originally sold through, as well as detailed documents showing the differences between the assembly line / Shelby assembly manuals for early 67 cars.  Both times I offered money in return, and both times I was met with "No worries - enjoy!"  And, there are plenty more similar stories I could share.

A first class group of people for sure!

Agree 100%, we all want the history on our cars and sometimes it turns up unexpectedly

A while ago I was chatting with Scott at Cobra Automotive when ordering some bits (conversation came up about my car, I knew it had been through their shop around 10 years earlier) - Scott had a quick think, does a bit of digging and then sends me around 35 photos on when it was inspected etc (and by our very own Howard)

Was fantastic - these are now the earliest pics of have of the car, so really appreciated

cheers

That's a great find - best of both worlds really and kudos for the owners in storing the original parts (front wings as well, keep those vins intact)

guessing you have seen this one - https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/shelby/gt350/1926584.html

I noticed it for sale when I bought my 65 clone in Feb 2017 - they were asking much more back then, at 45k I like it and would have taken it over mine (I like the more track focus)

2006-up Shelby GT/GT-H / Re: The 2016 GTH The 50th Anniversary
« on: May 30, 2018, 08:44:40 PM »
Love the Hertz's  - we did not get the 2016 in AUS, so I dressed my GT up to try and "match" what I thought it might look like (did this before the 2016 came out)

Is a daily driver and looks nice next to S1139

I keep scouring the web waiting for someone to sell some of the 2016 badges (wheel caps, hertz badges etc) but nothing yet (even called SA, no dice unless its a real one - makes sense I guess)

cheers

Edit - having trouble with pics atm? - Edit2 - worked it out

Parts For Sale / Re: 1966 GT350 289 HIPO ENGINE NEW PRICE
« on: April 12, 2018, 07:52:03 PM »
I have a 1966 289 engine assembly from a 66 GT350, vin numbers have been verified by Mr Pardee.

Are you able to share the Shelby VIN on the block?
