Carolina Region SAAC / Re: Advice needed for paint repair

Check with B-Mac's Restoration in north Raleigh.  They do most street-rod/resto0mod type stuff, but if the Lincoln is just straight black base/clear, I would think they could handle it.  They are an authorized collision repair for Hagerty if I remember right.

WOW . Congrats Charles. I'm glad the buyers there recognized your car for what it is. It has to be a world record, right? I mean for a reg production 68 Shelby GT350 vert. This will inspire Seraphim even more while he is continually buying NOS parts for his red GT350 vert. Gary

I'm not sure who keeps all the auction records, but according to Hagerty, my car sold for significantly higher than the top sale there.

Charles,  have you seen them on big blocks?

Mr Pete would be best to answer that...

If present, there was usually only 1 white wire clip used.  Exceptions found, so not an absolute.

Another way to look at this is consider that of the 1053 68 GT350 fastbacks built, that would have only been 21 per state in the US, if divided equally (we know that's not the actual case).  Not sure how many were exported, but it's a pretty low number looking at it that way.

The survival rate was probably higher than a typical Mustang from the same time.  Mostly due to Shelby's being higher priced and maybe most not being used as daily drivers, but instead pleasure use cars.

Appeals / T10 rebuild kits?
January 20, 2022, 02:33:03 PM
Anyone have recommendations for a good T10 rebuild kit?  Needed for a standard '66 Mustang cast-iron T10.

No reason to remove the heater box if you simply slice the heater hose after moving the clamps forward. That's a big job doing it that way!

I've done it before and it is a 2-person job that way and will tear up the firewall pad doing it, plus it also risks breaking the solder on the heater core fittings.  Not to mention lots of swearing and skint up knuckles!

4 nuts on the engine bay side, unplug the heater motor wires, disconnect the cables and the long screw up top and the box pulls right out.

It is easier to just remove the heater box in my opinion.  If the core hasn't been replaced, or the foam seals, good time to take care of that.

Yeah, somewhat off topic I know, but it sort of applies to explain the exchanges that occurred on this thread does it not?

Put everyone in this conversation in a bar together, in person, talking car stuff and it would be a very different situation.

The only issue with the exchange that occurred here is a lack of effective communication skills.

I really like cars with well executed day 2 mods made "in period", but did not realize they are eligible to earn SAAC concours gold? Is it because those changes were made by Performance Associates upon being purchased?

We have a competition class that it was judged in, it wasn't entered in normal concours Div 1/2.

I watched some of the videos, since the car is pretty far from being original already it appeared the guy was going all in to make it what he wants.  Not my cup of tea but I really don't care as its not my car.

As most know, it takes a considerable amount of effort and expense to identify, track down, purchase and restore correct parts which is obviously not his thing.  By his rude comments however, it also appears in his eyes, no one else can have an opinion unless you praise him for his efforts.  1523... get over it, just agree to disagree and do your thing instead acting like a spoiled child.

What the SAAC and a lot of its members offer is incredible, the knowledge is tremendous but guess what, people have opinions and they might not agree with yours.  If you walk away it is your loss.

Totally agree.  Not sure what more anyone could have said here.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Project GT350 values

High 200's - low 300's will get you a decent project, mostly complete based on a few cars I have seen over the past 12-18 months.

Prices can vary some when considering Venice cars, trunk mount battery, later front mount battery.  LeMans/Cragars factor in some also.
