"Now" I use 10 additional ft lbs on the upper row of head bolts
I used a healthy dose of Copper Coat and and 5 pounds over the max - standard parts store head gaskets (Fel Pro probably). I did order a set of the thinner Ford head gaskets but by the time they arrived I had gotten impatient and put it together with the aftermarket ones.

One thing I have noticed for the last few years...it takes me twice as long to do half as much as it used to... ;D
I first noticed that when I got my city job 40 years ago. Today it's even worse as all their diversity training (and their ethinic/sex/trade clubs) has driven all the various groups into their own little guarded cliques rather than being a big homogenized family with a let's get it done attitude.

You will eventually realize that anything posted on the forum, in a publicly accessible area, reflects not only on SAAC, but the SAACforum as a whole.
This is true - no more GM talk or Corvette pics.

Hey guys - please keep a lookout for SCCA programs, photos, records from the late 80s to late 90s. The guy who built my GT1 car ran it a couple years in Cal Club then sold it to someone in Portland. I have not been able to track down an owner in Portland. Of special interest are the 12x16" front wheels which were missing when I bought it in Texas.
It still had the Fox body on it and I'd imagine the new owner would have repainted it.
Thanks

Little Fords don't have the benefit of 5 head bolts per hole like the SBC. With only 4 bolts it can allow the heads to flex a little and under severe conditions the combustion gases may be forced around the gasket and into the water jacket and cause overheating. Mustangs aren't Panteras so you don't need to do any acrobatics to get the engine and radiator full.

You can see how the SBC benefits from more bolts around each cylinder - of course Ford did save a lot of money with 1/2 as many head bolts per engine.

Well,he did have the only truly great Ferrari (well Ferrare) ,Christine…..I personally  found her quite “sporty” back in the day … 8)
I always figured he got set up by someone in her circle of friends who had a debt to pay to the feds. Drugs were commonplace in her employment/friend circles of fashion and Hwood and not so much in his.

he chose to drive a foreign (will not mention name) vehicle .
Going Euro was a big thing at the time. They had the sexy performance cars we had sofas on wheels. I've always wondered if we'd have had the whole Ford V Ferrari war if the Deuce hadn't wanted to impress his Italian trophy girlfriend and show he could be a sophisticated world citizen not just an Ugly American.

John Z was one heck of a visionary,  a maverick, managed the development of a number of vehicles throughout his career,
The father of the Muscle Car. Manufacturers were still only stuffing the big motors in the big cars until he struck upon the idea of a big motor in a medium car.
The whole manufacturing thing fell apart because he took money from England to try and set up a plant in their welfare state Ireland.
A guy I know designed this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LearAvia_Lear_Fan and also ran into problems - more with our FAA not wanting the technology to leave the country than the Irish building it.
He's the only guy I know who can visualize airflow better than Pete Brock. https://biography.omicsonline.org/united-states-of-america/aerion-corporation/dr-richard-tracy-239318

Let the jokes begin. I wonder it they'll have the crime rate down by then. This is just the strip the murder rate is up 58%. You might as well go to Brazil you'd be just as safe.

Las Vegas will host its first Formula One race in November 2023, according to Sports Business Journal.

F1 has been in negotiations with Las Vegas and Nevada officials for months with an eye toward holding an annual race in and around the Las Vegas Strip. The race will be officially announced in the coming weeks.

A report in Front Office Sports said Vegas will be held Thanksgiving weekend.

It will mark the third U.S.-based race on the F1 circuit. Austin, Texas, has hosted a race since 2012, and a new event in Miami will debut this May.

There wasn't anything good about that car. Not even the stainless.

Comonman !

That masterpiece of an engine that was in the original stainless steel refrigerator,  I mean Delorean

That Peugeot-Renault-Volvo (PRV) 2.85 L (174 cu in) SOHC V6, rated at 130 hp  at 5,500 rpm and torque of 153 lb⋅ft at 2,750 rpm....
You forget it was a Lotus Esprit backbone chassis design. Where are they going to put and how will they protect the batteries?

The one and only. At the time he was a counter jockey at Ansen. He rose to fame when he was "given" the Ansen aluminum rod operation by Louie. After he built a "proper" aluminum he bought Forged True Pistons and the rest is history.
Yes - the early rods were junk. Ansen wanted to be in the wheel business only. I imagine they suckered him with a free product line but the fine print of the deal was he assumed all liability for the junk they had been selling. Of course is was the early 70s and the lawyers may not have had a say.
