I have had good luck by connecting battery and ground (while on bench) and TAPPING with plastic mallet. Not much to lose by trying……..worked for me.

How heavy of a mallet? :o
I use a rubber or wooden mallet. Not about the weight but how hard you hit it.

Yep... and a small squirt of wd-40 will help. There is also a n adjusting nut that can be moved a bit to help the process.

Hmmmm,  I see you want quality...nothing better than the Rogue Acoustic Audio system for your car at $330,000 yes that is correct $330K

You will need the help of some Makita tools to massage your dash for precise fitment.

Lastly a spray bomb and no one  will suspect a thing,  will look almost stock,  I said almost

Good luck  !

Thanks, already have all that equipment, but really dont want to spend the $330k :)  Might try to find something in the $3-400 range

Nice job Dave ! Looks like a really nice show .

Looking for a suggestion on an aftermarket radio for my 68. Been through 3 Custom Auto Sound units in 7 years. POS in my opinion. Has anyone had good luck with another brand? I know I can send the original out and have it modernized.

Thanks !

I guess like all the rest.... it's only worth what someone (knowledgeable or un-knowledgeable) is willing to pay. Its a pretty car either way.

Pertronix 2 and 3 require their matching coils. A 12 V switched terminal on a 68 is the "c" terminal on the ignition switch I believe. They will run withless than 12 V , but don't like it :)

May not need to come out... but I'd bet it needs to be dropped from the manifolds at least. probably just as easy to just take it out.

Ok.... so everyone may laugh at this , but I added  #14 wire  from the housing to the decklid bumper stop from underneath the nut that holds the bumper on. My lights look great and are bright. Closeout panel covers the wire anyway.
