Appeals / Re: 69 or 70 radio block off

Same both years the woodgrain may have changed as the wood started out lite then went dark after fall of 68 deluxe interior cars were made as there is a black standard interior version also and a cougar wood xr7 burl type wood also.  Cant tell by your pic if its lite or dark need better closeup pic.

There is no exact pattern of sticker placement since different shifts, inspectors, type of car ,options , running changes ,etc The only one that seems the same is the P in the door jamb above interior light switch button.  I have seen an E on late 69 before on top lh shock tower but more common on a 70. The WW is very rarely used from what i seen and was told it meant Wind Water test and it wasnt done on all cars. Its too bad Jeff Speegle didnt live in Detroit as he would have wore out several cameras by now and wore out them  dearborn assembly line workers  asking ?s back in the day HAHA. I meet alot of ford workers on many detroit trips buying parts ,swap meets ,dearborn garage sales ,etc but but many parts guys wouldnt tell u there parts sources honey holes. I went on different assembly line tours 5 times and last  ford one was at ford 100th celebration as ford had buses going to plant tours from show. I talked to ford guys that get together a certain day of the month in detroit area and have a reunion and discuss the good ole days but that was before covid so dont know if them meeting still are going on but i would have loved to go to one and ask ?s but thats an 8 hour drive for me.

Up For Auction / Re: One for Pete.....
February 19, 2024, 10:13:27 AM
I would have thought all cars had the tiedown hooks installed on assembly line pete or how would they know which cars were going to be transported on rail truck or boat was that on any  assembly line coded on paperwork as  i dont know and never heard that discussed before?  I would think the tiedown hooks would be installed on rear frame rails before exhaust was installed on the assembly line especially on the dual exhaust cars as its hard to install the long dual exhaust hooks after the rear tailpipes are in place especially on the left side rear its a tight area to work since the gas tank is offset to the left its hard to install the 2 long bolts and nuts on top of frame rails as its a very busy area to work around the tailpipes rear chrome tips and clamps rear hangers and leaf spring shackles all in the way. I been collecting original rear tiedown hooks for last 40 years and found many in old ford dealerships junkyards etc and have more rh sides than lh side since rh side is much easy to remove and have found cars that the lh wasnt removed as it was to much trouble to remove hook after dual exhaust was installed. Just look at the distance between rear gas tank area and lh frame rail vs rh frame rail.

Just looked at an nos 69 cj dated carb here and lever looks like it  could be dark phosphate finish either way not an easy fix after the whole shaft assembly has been replated.
#38
Gary on your carb the inner throttle shaft lever that  controls the front bowl vent was originally black oxide  or some blackish finish. Most restorers miss that detail as when u replate the whole throttle shaft assembly everything gets goldish plated since these levers were all pressed in together after they were plated separately when carb was first assembled new.  I always paint the inner lever black again after the throttle shaft is replated to try and get that original finish look again to be concours correct or some kind of dark finish black oxide or whatever. I have some new holley throttle shafts here that i bought years ago and they are made just like the originals with correct finishes on the levers and they were like $75.00 so if u want to be 100% concours correct this is the only way it can be done unless Drew P. knows of a better way to get that original finish on the throttle shaft levers?

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Headlight wiring loom
February 12, 2024, 08:23:06 AM
Early cars had the 69 regular mustang  high beam 2 prong inner wire cut off and taped with silver duct tape then later they used the 1970 type wire that only had a 3 prong plug for single headlight system.

Hank moved to florida back in the 90s when his parents moved from MI. and mike ulrey soon followed. Hank started paridize automotive and bought george out of the MaClaran parts business they had. I was with hank when he found the boss 302 shaker base and snorkle for $35 bucks and later sold it for $3500bucks. We were at desert valley junkyard in AZ after a BJ auction trip and the yard had cleaned out an old skool bus full of air cleaners and had them hanging on racks when we found it as that was the biggest yard with 6000 or so old cars before the big car crush happened. Larrry Cook also moved to FL and is still making parts.

Correct gary back years ago we made many trips out west buying up ford  air cleaner snorkels in old junk yards because they were rust free and the snorkel ends were used on several ford performance cars. I had an old junk yard directory book  that i used on western junk yard trips. One western trip after a shelby nats show in utah me hank huisman (george  h brother) randy sizemore rented a van and after a few days had so many parts we had to stop at ups and ship snorkles etc home because our van was full  as this was before the big crush when all junk yards were crushing these old cars truck etc. The ford snorkle ends depended on what carb was used performance holleys vs ford carbs as the air cleaner base was flat 2 piece on holley with a closer diameter snorkle screw end holes 16 1/4''. vs 17'' air cleaner bases both being difference design except for the 390 gt as it was difference than the regular ford 390.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Front Bumper
February 11, 2024, 09:01:44 AM
Look for a raised hump  all along the top  flat area of bumper and the way the 2 brackets are welded on area. Repo is flat across the top. Also an original will be pitted on backside after all these years as i dont think anybody has driven a 69 shelby much in the snow and ice and salt since the repo bumper came out ya think?

The unique KR only snorkle was made from a 68 ford snorkle offset then a 68 black AMC snorkle extension then the 68 ford end that the s-tube connects to the cj heat shield. The  unique KR s-tube was a modified  cj part haveing 3 holes at top and 3 notches on bottom where as regular 68 cj s-tube only had 1 hole at top and 1 notch at bottom. These  KR modified parts were made due to the wider KR alum valve cover vs the regular 68 1/2 cj chrome valve covers.

Wonder why the sign was already crated up and you wanted to inspect it closely to see how it was assembled. Why even worry about crating sign till auction was over as the new buyer could pick up sign just like picking up car at sellers house after auction and save all that time and money making that special size crate. And if it wasnt crated u could get better detailed photos for auction. Does anybody know if any interested buyer were allowed to inspect sign at sellers house or know where seller got sign from 20 years ago like the auction says?
