I admit I do not know that much about the Carry-Over Cars so I have Several questions about the Carry-Overs:
Were the VIN's swapped to 66 Vin's and by Who?
Were the 252 Carry-Overs at the Ford Manufacture Lot and the VIN's swapped BEFORE being shipped to SA?
The 65's had Shelby Wood Steering Wheels and the 66 had Pony Plastic Steering Wheels, which did the Carry-Overs have?
Did SA switch out the 65 Dash Pod for the 66 Tach?
Do the Carry-Overs have the 65 Seats?

Are the 1970 Shelby's also considered Carry-Over Cars?

It's really too bad on how a car like this can go so sideways. All the seller had to do do was represent it for what it was. A 65 that had some race history. Was restored with some sheet metal work from 66. Has some R-model flare. Possibly has the tranny and engine from 5R211 and call it what it is. I particularly like that sort of stuff. My 66 was restored by Jim C in 1990 and we put a bunch on "non-correct" 65 / 65 R-model bits on it. I love it. Had I not been 1 year old in 66 and was buying a 66 new, these are some of the day 2 things I would have done. The reason being.... I drive it and enjoy it. There are 2 types of buyers, right? The originality "concourse" buyer who buys for the "investment" or the guy who buys for the pleasure of driving and enjoying. Neither is better than the other, but 2 different buyers. I think had the seller gone the "racing" driving route, this was a slam dunk car for the right buyer. I wish I had the cash to buy, at the right price, this is an awesome looking / sounding driver. The problem here is, the seller is looking for it to be an investment " best of all " car.... and it's not that. You guys here on the Forum do an awesome job informing everyone of the "investment" component shortfalls on many of the cars listed on the internet. I don't know why anyone buying any Shelby without having someone with extensive knowledge review that car and disclose what's not correct. Especially on a 65 where many of those components are just not available anymore. The potential buyer who walked away did just that after JB apparently got a cramp in his hand from the length of that list. Keep up the fight, as without you guys pointing this stuff out, the used car salesmen take over! Jeff-

Are you saying it is NOT a real GT 350?

Generally, "slabside" refers to a replica rather than a genuine Cobra.

That's news to me.  I call all Flat Flare  CSX 2000 Cobra's Slab Sides.

GT/CS - California Special / Re: GT/CS stripe colors ?

Did the California Special come with stripe colors other than white or black from the Ford factory?

White, black, red and a medium blue according to the Paul's book

Off the subject a little not sure of the available stripes for High Country or the Gold Nugget specials - the Calif Special's cousins that year and car production plant

Sometimes the Calif Specials were also ordered with the painted stripes on the side above the stick on ones. Those colors are coded into the information Kevin Marti has access to. Would expect that those stripes matched the original color of the stick on decal Calif Special stripes. They did on the ones I've owned that had the painted stripe option

How do we know if an owner changed the stripe color (from say white to black or visa versa)
Any paint / stripe color list info out there?

Might be called out/listed on the buildsheet. Haven't done a survey on the coding in the odd numbered boxes and compared them to the know original stripe color.

When you say Painted on ABOVE the Stick on ones, do you mean a Pin Stripe that runs Front to Back at the top of the Fenders, Doors and Quarters?

I think all of the George Barris creations are pretty awful in general.

Careful now...I own the Mannix TV series car, used in Seasons 1 & 2:  1968 Dart GTS Convertible with a 340.

Video here.  I reunited the car with Mannix star Mike Connors.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBOAJSF1ypA

You are lucky it still had the Hood when you found it.

The GT 40 was supposedly a very original car and indeed the real thing ( as stated before, this is rare nowadays because of the amount the cars are worth ), unfortunately there was an Interview with the driver (Sam Hancock, a very good and experienced driver, specialist for historic racing) where he was quite happy to be trusted with such an original and historic example. The accident was very unfortunate, there was a lot of oil on the track which totally surprised both - the T70 spider simply could not slow down.

I don't believe the owner when he says "it's ok. Don't worry about it". Then again the driver will disappear as a result of actions by the "friends of the program".

That all depends on the amount of Insurance the owner has on the Car.  The Driver may have done him a favor.
