There is no argument about the Super Snake getting the "lightweight 427" but I'm not sure that it is documented that the other two did also?

There was a '67 427 available for the Fairlane. It was a MR, had 2-4's and iron heads.
There IS a special iron exhaust manifold for them and as expected, is referred to as the 427 Fairlane manifold.

The '67 427 R's would have come as a crate engine with those manifolds.

Never having attempted to install them in a Mustang I can't say if they fit or not but in the past I spoke to George Porubski about that and he said that they can fit but require some grinding.

Considering that the three Shelby cars were intended for racing, it's most likely that SS type tube headers were built on the cars.

I haven't seen specific reference to them or any pictures and know of no one who has ever.

I'm not sure when the first aftermarket bolt on Mustang FE headers appeared but it isn't a stretch to say, right around this time.

It is entirely possible that the Hooker 2-1/8" primary "Competition" headers with the front four tubes in front of the cross member and the slip tubes were the first to appear. FE Mustangs were showing up at the drag strips and there was some demand for headers at the time.
The 427 exhaust port bolt pattern is different then the 390 bolt pattern used in Mustang at that time . I doubt that there was a immediate incentive for header companies to tool up production for 390 headers in the new for 67 body style. It would be a stretch to think that there was any monetary incentive to tool up header production for a rare 427 in that Mustang body style. That is why I said a year or so.
I know that there were some by 1969 because I watched some being installed in that year. Regardless the time frame in which the 3 427 cars were built it is safe to say that there wasn't any aftermarket headers available which is why SA had to have them built for any car that they put a 427 in.

Because I am curious, those Dealerships that installed 427's in GT 500's, could they have installed just a 427 Short Block to avoid the Header/Exhaust issues?

Way Cool! This is how I found 04052. Air, 4-speed. Mostly original paint.

Crazy Question....... When leaving a Car on Jack Stands, I always put the Front Jack Stands on the Frame Rails by the Torque Boxes and the Rear Jack Stands on the Frame Rails by the front Eye of the Leaf Springs.  I see this Car has the Front Jack Stands on the Frame Rails by the Radiator Support.  Where would you place the Jack Stands if leaving the Car on them for a while?

This year's shirts will be an empty gas tank, empty wallet, and a gas pump, with an image of a thirsty FE behind.

Make sure you can see that Sticker of Biden on the Gas Pump pointing to the Price with the words "I Did That".

A lot of Craftsmanship went into this Mustang.........

The 65-66 was at the NPD Silver Springs Show several times during it build.  The 68 was at the Mustang Show in Pensacola a few times.

In my never ending quest to research 0100's history, I acquired this photo a couple of nights ago.  The photo was taken by Bob D'Olivo for Motor Trend magazine on Monday, 12/12/66.  I was definitely surprised to see what appears to be the engine oil filter with an oil pressure line attached to it remotely mounted in the driver's side front wheel well!!!

I have seen Vacuum Canisters in that time period that look just like that as well.

My questions is, do you think it would have sold better (higher Price) if it went back to the original Limegold when they refurbished it?
My question is where is the sold price? I don't see it. It says May 21 date of auction

Yes, I know.  It is too late to change the Color.  It will sell at No Reserve so I ask......would it have brought a Higher Price if it was Limegold instead of Red?  You pretty much know it will sell between $99,000 to $140,000 on the 21st.  Do you think if it was Limegold, would it go Higher on the 21st.?

You do what you have to do   ::)    Ford Pinto/Mercury Bobcat wagon ?
Have seen a Pinto with Bobcat interior delivered to dealer back in the day, oops  ???

Back in the Day, they would do that for you.  Back in 77/78, our Pontiac Dealer swapped out a complete Interior between two Trans Am's.  My Friend wanted a Blue Trans Am they had but didn't like the Gray Interior Color so he told them to switch with the Silver Trans Am that had the Light Blue Interior and they said sure, come back in a few Days.  Sure enough, they did it with the Manufacturers blessing.  NOW, I wanted to buy a Mustang but hated the Wheels, I asked them to swap Wheels with another Mustang and they said NO. So, I left. I miss the good old days when Dealerships were helpful.

one new found ...

1G DLR 4101 appears on a red 289 Cobra on August 64 "Car Life" Test with a C2 Vette

I never could understand why they always did the Car Comparison Tests like this one.  The Cobra is a Convertible and the Vette is a Coupe.  They should have used a Vette Convertible.

I'm still waiting for the owner to give me an ok to post more pictures, and explain what was done to the Shelby to make it look like a 70 Mach I.

I personally inspected it recently, so no worries.

I don't think it was made to look like a Mach 1 since I don't see any Mach 1 items.

Interesting the article credits the design to Carroll Shelby when it was Ford designer who did the 67 Shelby. But I guess designed by Charley McHose just doesn't have the cachet of CS. Since it is a 68 car John Chun another Ford stylist could have had a hand in it.

PS: If you come across a red/black GT/CS (CA black plate ZAZ 235) run away from it. My sister bought it new and they fixed it after it got T-boned. Hit at the drivers A pillar the passenger door gap opened up to 1/2"+. They pulled it back but even the drivers AC vent wasn't in the right place anymore. She kept it another 6-8 months and bought a VW Bug.

GT/CS was a dress up sales tool installed on any Mustang. It added zero performance. I still have both sets of fog lights. If I remember the Marchal were illegal and the dealers swapped them to Lucas. My dad asked the dealer if he could have the takeoffs for his camper and they gave them to him. I took the Lucas ones for my car when my sister traded it in.

Did Carroll Shelby design Little red and the Green Hornet?
