100% Random - you will not be able to predict what a missing Shelby Ford VIN is by those around it. I've seen the ledger.
65-67 - hey kid go grab a car so we can build it = gets closest car - there was no first in first out inventory plan adhered to.
66 you also have the color factor - they needed a kid who wasn't color blind = hey kid go get a red car.......

Thank you.  That answers it for me.

You may want to read this website.  Some of your questions are answered. - http://1965gt350mustang.com/numbers.html

Great Read but, did not really answer my question.  Here is an example of what I would like to know:  Grab 6 Random 1966 Shelby's and park them in Numeral Order according to the SAI VIN Plate. Pull the SAI VIN Plates off to expose the Factory VIN.  Will the first Shelby have a high Ford VIN then the others? Will the 3rd Shelby have a higher Ford Vin then the 6th one?  Did SAI use the Ford VIN to number the Shelby's?

Is your question about a specific year?

No, just 1965 - 1970's.  Some times, some weird thought will pop into my head and it wont leave.  This thought Intrigued me enough to ask.

Replica's are all well and good but the thing I hate the most is this question "Is it a real one?" which is a legitimate question.   That is why I wouldn't buy or even consider trading my original Shelby for a replica, continuation etc....  Anyone can buy a new replica, no one can buy your original Shelby unless you sale it to them :-).

Some will say "Yeah but who has the $millions to buy the real deal", okay I understand that, but unless your racing it, invest your money in a real one of what you can afford IMHO.

The Flaw here is: By the time I save up enough to buy a REAL one, I will be on my Deathbed and THEN, I couldn't afford the Insurance, and then, I'd be too afraid to drive it for fear of getting even a single Ding on it and then there is the Parts issues, need a Master Cylinder? Good luck finding one.  Soooo, a  Replica or Continuation could be MORE valuable then the "Real Deal" to some people.

When it came to getting the Tags Stamped and Riveting them under the Hood over the Ford VIN. Number, how was that Decided which Car got which Number?  Could Car Number 5 have a Higher Ford Vin. Number than Car Number 12? I have Photos of SAI receiving Several Loads of Mustangs at the same time, did SAI use the Ford VIN Number to assign them SAI Numbers or was it fist one in is first one Numbered?

I just saw this on my news feed. A garage of a home east of Sacramento (Citrus Heights) went up in flames. In the pic I can see what looks like a red 67 Shelby convertible amount other cars according to CBS news. Sad

A "vert" would mean it's a '68.  Very sad to see it being consumed.

The Tail Light Panel tells you it is a 68.  News People do not know Cars.

Glad KC won.  Glad I only saw Taylor just 3 times.  Only one Commercial stood out for me and that was the one with Christopher Walken and the Half Time Show sucked.

If you are a member of MCA you can use the X Plan. I used it on my wife's '22 Lincoln and my '24 Super Duty. It was around 10% discount (well worth the $50.00 per year dues)...  ;)

TOB

How did you make the Deal?  Did you have to tell them up front that you're using the X Plan and all negotiations ended?

Well, that comparison made me go look at the original front bumper to my car, 362, which was on the car in 1986 and appears to have been rechromed some time prior to that. It has no fold in it, so maybe it's at least a good way to help identify an original front bumper off of the car. See the attached photo.

Could the Guy who Rechromed it have Welded that area up smooth?

As far as the Hertz Cars go, I believe there were
59 Green
60 Blue
61 Red
71 White
The rest in Black
I think one was White with Blue Stripes.

Some where in my stash of Shelby stuff, and it's a lot, I have about 5 of those Dust Jackets that are NOS.

If you happen to ever find them, and perhaps wish to sell one, I'd like to get one.    ;D

     Scott.

OK, I will hunt for them.
