+1 H&M stock car application . The sump sections were deliberately pushed forward for steering linkage clearance. I have had several in years past. The sway bar is in the way of the forward part of the sump on all but a Galaxie snout.

   It's an early car , aluminum water pump , round hole steering wheel and bolt on windshield wiper mechanism. Sharp bend stick should be correct. Later cars did have the smooth bend stick.

   I do have one of the "natural finish" dashpots in my bin of "3259" parts. I may have removed it because I thought it wasn't correct from one of the '67 carbs I've owned. I know I have never seen one on a '66.
  I should have been more careful on reply #4 and again apologize.

 We need to look at DSO sheets to see if there is a call out for a different engine build number. The engine plant would certainly have a different "code" for an Autolite equipped complete engine versus one with a Holley same as they did for a thermactor engine versus one without. They were FAR more restricted as to what they assembled. I'm thinking the Holley was an SAI thing and while being swapped the "Autolite dashpot" was transferred at the same time. Autolite parts lacked the dichromate plating Holley parts were known for.
   The late Ray Wolfe had boxes ( at least two hundred lines)  of '67 small block Holley fuel lines after SAI closed down.

       It's possible it was a retro fit. if the "spec" was changed to Holley , they would have been on service carbs. In "my years" I have seen one or two 715s with the natural finish , 4100 style dashpot ( the one with the external spring) for sale at local swap meets. I didn't/don't feel they were original . Remember "My" vision is somewhat limited to California stuff. What have you seen? I haven't "seen it all". LOL

   The S2MS 9510 A Holley did not have a dash pot and SAI did not add them. I have an early C4 auto Hertz car that came with the Holley and no dashpot. The Autolite 4100 , C6ZF-C WAS produced with a dashpot  by Ford and the complete carburetor was transferred by SAI during the manifold swap.

     PS new ( to me) information and discussion may alter my statement above with respect to '67 usage! AND yes I called out the "C" incorrectly , I should have said F , I apologize for the confusion on my part.

It is put in the wrong way!  FEs ( with the proper FE style cam plug) go in the OPPOSITE way of what you have done. The "cupped" portion goes TOWARD the camshaft and the plug is tapered to allow that. That should fix your problem.

PARDON MY STUPIDITY , I now realize the engine is a small block. The plug IS installed correctly. All I can suggest is spray with brake parts cleaner and apply silicone sealer all around the plug's edge.
    I am wearing the "dunce" hat and writing pardon my stupidity  on the chalk board.

  I was thinking a narrowed '67 up because of the slight taper near the ends. Broncos typically have more offset of the third member than a Mustang. Currie has built "cloned" housings as well as Quick Time Performance. They will pass all but concours judging LOL.

   +1 Tapered tubes ONLY. The Ford assembly plant did not operate like your local garage. "Substitution" like that didn't happen because it couldn't. U bolts , spring plates , etc would have to be substituted. You also have to remember the drum to drum axle assemblies were built in MI and shipped to the assembly plants. They built to a "build sheet" so the parts could go to any assembly plant for "standard installation". The "line" couldn't handle "anomalies".
     Many "copies" including a guy in TN that builds them with ALL new parts are out there. The welds are usually the giveaway to a "non production" housing The speed of rotation , heat , and wire feed speed are difficult to duplicate correctly.

   You can use the clutch with a "clutchless" transmission , it's just noisey on shifting. Be careful of a transmission with straight cut gears as they whine terribly.
