I've been attending collector car auctions for about 30 years (not as long as a lot of you I know...) and for maybe 25 of those years I walked away thinking "people are crazy, always over paying".
The it occurred to me that maybe I was looking at things incorrectly.  How was it that I was right about prices (they were always too high) and all of those buyers were wrong?
The market is what it is.  If after a long time period you think everything you look at is overpriced, it may be time to adjust your thinking.

If you are looking at spending $250k on a car just because you like it, you likely can afford another $20k.  Just spend the money and don't look back.

I use it to motivate myself to earn a little more.  I figure I can always make a little more money!

Just find one you like and buy it.

Original '67 nose for sale.  Purchased years ago for a project but we went a different direction.
Usable but it will need work.
Buyer will be responsible for shipping costs or pickup.  I can box up and ship or send truck freight.

$1000.00 OBO.   email:  cincyboathouse@gmail.com or PM via site.

I'm confused on which version you are making-for outboard cars?

I had some interest in a couple of parts, but never received a reply.  Probably better off anyway.

I wonder the same thing...was it real money?
Auctions can be tricky.  Even when a car "sells" there are instances when its "sold" to a friend of the auction house, the commission isn't paid by the "buyer" and the car pops up again at another auction a year later.

This seemed like a pretty strong bid for the car, but I didn't see it in person.  Non original engine I assume, but the car has some neat in-period history.  Seemed like a fair price to me?

Agreed, I didn't mean to suggest that I hope they get the $289k even though that's what I said !   ::)

To clarify, I hope they reach a selling price they are comfortable with!  Again, I'm thinking $200k range would be fair to me.  I am assuming the Ford VIN's are present on the fender aprons...

Yeah, maybe not the best venue I agree?  Seems like I saw a '66 GT350 prepared in a similar manner bring more money at one of the auctions in Monterey ?  It may have had period history.
This car looks well prepared to me.  I like it a lot.    Hope they get what they are asking.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: VIN # stampings

I was able to get a look at the engine for my GT500, which had a completion date at Ford in early Jan, '67. (Jan 9th)  What is a reasonable range of date codes for the engine to be a likely match for the car?
I was unable to see a date code on the block as its sitting on the floor and not easy to get to...I found an casting date of August on the cylinder heads.  Both heads share the same August date.
Would it be plausible for a an early Jan completion at Ford to have August cylinder heads?

I know this thread is a little old but it took me a while to get a look at some of the date codes.  It is the correct C6ME-A block.  Just haven't seen the date code yet on the block.
