Really great Bill. Is the Blue #5 permanent to Hickory?

Yes, it's ours.  Only our Museum and the Smithsonian got ours flown in and are complete aircraft, the other museums that got them had to remove engines, disassemble, truck, and reassemble which is a very expensive deal.  The people of Hickory were treated to a mini-airshow when it arrived, flown by a former Blue Angel pilot.

What is the difference between a F/A--18A Hornet and a Super Hornet?

Love the Torq-Thrusts BTW.

Louder and faster.  A little different in leading edge of wings at cockpit and intakes are now square.

New addition to the Hickory Aviation Museum, Hickory NC where I volunteer is our recently retired Blue Angel #5 F/A--18A Hornet.  The Blues have now moved on to the Super Hornet for 2021.  Maybe some time this year, the group would like to come over and hang out for a day and park amongst our aircraft.  One of the aviation museums on the West Coast does a Shelby gathering at their place and they get a nice turnout.

BG's Jag appears to be running away with the vote, two of the three classic Shelby Mustangs have less votes than that of a photo of a 60 year old woman!  Also, only one Vette, considering the Charlotte Vette club shows up with 40+ Vettes every year and hogs a whole parking area.  Not a very big turnout of cars, considering the actual show usually brings in nearly 500+.   https://my.360photocontest.com/AmeriCarnaLIVE/Photos

Bummer.   :'(

Yes, they are asking for people to participate virtually.  I usually hate these things, but this is such a good charity that is near and dear to my heart, I'm going to participate.

I agree and they do such a good job with their show.  So many charities have suffered this year.

Always look forward to this great show, but we'll have to participate virtually this year.

I'm not, that is a pretty busy stretch with tons of lights and traffic and it seems like it's just a cruise wherever/whenever, not structured or anything.  My car  just does not like sitting in traffic, but at least temps are only forecast in the mid to upper 70s for anyone who does go.

Looked at #1609 in the garage, 96 degrees in the shade!

SAAC-23 was a nice convention, the open track time was good as well.  VHS footage compared to today's digital GoPro video is stone age quality.  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiUmqrJyrYBaHZ7sYZrPOWpCY2c6rXn9w

VHS video from SAAC 21 now converted and uploaded to my YouTube page.  First part is on track action, second part is in-car from my friends' GT Developments GT-40 and more trackside video taping.  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiUmqrJyrYBaHZ7sYZrPOWpCY2c6rXn9w

Looking Back / SAAC Convention Videos: SAAC 22

Taking advantage of this downtime to convert my VHS footage to digital.   First up is SAAC 22, Road America in 1997.  I think this was my favorite open track I ever did, despite the oppressive heat and mosquitos.  No matter how big the run groups, and mine was relatively small, drivers had a lot of open track to enjoy their high performance vehicles and I had more track time, than I could ever want.  Mr Shelby attended and despite the temperature, he signed items for hours, first in a small trailer and then under a canopy.  My friend with a GTD GT40 and I made the trip, towing our cars from Patuxent River, MD and Virginia Beach, VA.  I still recall the banquet being almost "tornado'd out" when a storm cell from hell hit the track, and people were looting running off with trays of brauts and rolls!  I stayed an extra day to watch the historic races that followed the convention.  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiUmqrJyrYBaHZ7sYZrPOWpCY2c6rXn9w
