Up For Auction / Re: 6S1108 - on Ebay

It truely stated, "... did a body off restoration ...", for how else could so much be obviously so off the scale to the less desirable, than if the body had been taken off at some point.  The body looks (gulp) great, it's just the "frame" they overlooked.  ;)

Stock?

It had to run an alternator!... all accessories, suspension, interior, body panels as factory equipped.  I just removed the alternator pulley which disengaged and free-wheeled one-way, charged the other.  In the photo you can just make out the tow-bar that was used to get it to and from the track.  456 gears were ran (IIRC). The automatic was replaced with a 4-speed, but it was essentially stock with a Ford Power Parts Stage 5 engine using the original block that still sits in the engine bay.

I posted it on the original forum from an issue of Hot Rod Magazine (could have been Pop Hotrodding too)  I still have all the mags, so I will come across it again as I scan them in and dispose of them all

As for the original question? Original Ford Illustrative art had stripes on the cars... remember the two arcing around a curve away from the viewer? I agree with all the posters that say it started right away... when it became "expected"... hell... when was it expected on the 65s and 66s? Easily by the early 70s. because of the race heritage of the earlier cars and the fitting to the styling of the 67s.  stripes on 68s... is another matter all together

In the years before briggs, cars were painted colors according to their country of origin.  The U.S. was White and Blue, Briggs was the first notable 'merican and his style of application set a trend....

Can straight and dog-legged bars be differentiated from under the car?

Here is a similar gauge panel of unknown heritage (HEY!I resemble that remark!)... 5 1/2 wide by 2 5/8 tall, with gauge holes enlarged for 2 5/8 gauges.

I would like to buy a number if the postage does not go up by the corresponding amount-- 4 to 8 that may be shared at a reasonable price here in the States.

Has anyone compared them side by side to note the difference?  My wheels are restored (albeit worn) originals.

The banner(s) were a great idea, I love how they came out.
