Parts For Sale / 302 Mexican main caps

I've had these for a long time and the project I had in mind when I bought them is never going to happen.  Excellent condition.  I've seen some of these selling on ebay for $350-375 in the recent past.  Asking $350 OBO + the ride.  Let me know if you have any questions or want to see other pictures.  John

I have never heard of or experienced what you are suggesting.  It assume may be possible if the clock is bad.  Try disconnecting the power plug for the clock and see what happens.

Still one near me, which is good, but I have to say I have not gone out of my way to find ethanol free gas for years for the Shelby or the 70 Cougar I had until recently.  Other 93 octane available in my area likely has had 5-10% ethanol for the past several years, but neither I or classic car buds of mine have ever had any issues running it and we all store our cars for 6 months of the year (with some gas stabilizer).

Laps were not timed but I did get the in-car audio and video package.  That included live mph during the laps.  Looking at the videos after I was there, my speeds on the back straight and a couple of the corners were faster in the vette, but that is likely more because it was the last car I drove, so I was getting used to the track more and more 1st car to last.  I never said I thought I did faster laps in the C8 - just that I thought it handled a little better through the corners than the GT 500.

Fortunately the morning rains stopped and the track dried out in time for my rides, so unfortunately the submersible SEA-8 testing was not available.

I recall seeing a few threads on the C8 vs GT 500 in the last year or so.  I spent this morning at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex driving a few cars via Extreme Experience.  Great program and a really fun morning overall.  I did have the opportunity to drive the new GT 500 and the C8 Z51 back to back - 3 laps each.  I have some track experience but I'm no race driver.  That said, I did enjoy thrashing these cars to the best of my ability and to my delight, my passenger instructors / coaches just kept encouraging me to go harder.  Leaving looks, price, interior, practicality etc. aside and focusing only on performance / handing, it was interesting.  The GT 500 was a brute with tremendous punch, awesome exhaust sound and it handled very well.  The vette surprised me somewhat and to me was the better handling car overall, not by a lot, but it felt better balanced and smoother / tighter through the turns.  I assume that apart from the difference in engine placement, the significant difference in weight had a lot to do with my driving impressions.  That said, if I was in the market for one or the other and I factored in everything about both cars, it would likely be a difficult choice.  Not every day is a track day.
Just one car guy's impression.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: Holley 3259 date

I asked this question of our resident experts a few years ago and was told that for my late March build, the acceptable Holley date range could be from later in 65 through March 66.

Cars For Sale / 1931 Ford 5 Window Coupe Hot Rod
May 31, 2022, 08:00:19 PM
I'm posting this for a friend.  Wayne Pitman was the President of Wayne Pitman Ford Inc. in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.  He retired several years ago and is still a strong Ford guy and owns a few interesting classics.  He has decided that he just does not use his hot rod enough to justify keeping it and is looking for a new custodian for it.  This will be a great buy for someone who appreciates these types of cars.  If you or anyone you know might be interested in this very cool vehicle, contact Wayne directly – contact info below.

The rust-free body came from California about 10 years ago.  The owner at that time started to restore the body and build the hot rod but unfortunately passed away before he got very far.  Wayne bought it on February 4, 2017 and the car was completed in May of 2019.  All high quality components and paint.  The car is gorgeous!  All work done in Ontario Canada.  Wayne has over $100,000 Cdn invested in it.  Lots of pictures and documentation available including pictures of the car on a trailer arriving from California with CA plates.
Some of the key information on this show quality vehicle :
-   Original all steel body
-   Boxed custom frame by Paul Horton
-   No chopping
-   High quality black cherry paint
-   Rootlieb hood
-   32 grill shell and grille
-   Custom front and rear pans
-   Bobbed rear fenders
-   Custom pin striping
-   Flip out windshield
-   Black leather bench seating
-   Tilt wheel
-   Classic gauges
-   Led lighting
-   Stereo with power antenna
-   Custom built 16 (imperial) gallon steel gas tank in rumble seat area
-   Highly dressed 289 built to K code specs except for hydraulic cam and lifters
-   New Walker custom rad / electric fan
-   Powder coated headers
-   C4 transmission
-   Rebuilt Ford 9" rear end
-   Coil over suspension
-   Power rack & pinion steering
-   Wilwood 6 piston power front brakes
-   Magnaflow stainless exhaust
-   New Toyo tires and Salt Flats wheels
-   Battery turn off switch
-   Comes with custom car cover

The odometer shows 4,000 miles.  Wayne says he has only put a little over 600 miles on the rod since it was finished.  Again, over $100K Cdn invested.  Wayne is asking $55K Cdn which converts to about $43K US at the current exchange rate.
If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Wayne directly at 705-445-6338 or at wamapitman@gmail.com  The car is located in Collingwood, Ontario, about 90 miles north of Toronto and about a three hour drive from Buffalo.

The Lounge / Re: Another nail in the coffin?

In my opinion, the trend towards electric is set and will happen.  The only question is how fast and which companies want to be seen as market leaders or followers, or both depending on their fleet of vehicles and target markets.  LOTS of people are buying into the transition especially with gas prices as they are now and in the end consumers will make choices and manufacturers will respond as they think they should.  I highly doubt any political administration is going to significantly affect what happens going forward at this point unless they come out with massive rebates to accelerate the take up / make the switch more affordable.
