Steel wool gets stuck in the letters / numbers, cannot be used so you get consistent pressure on the full surface and is not aggressive enough to clean up the years of grime etc.  Its aluminum.  You can't hurt it if you use fine sandpaper, a sanding block and go easy.

Standard flat black.  I think I used 220 grit, but not sure.  No pictures of the before and after but it does come up like new.  Just use fine grit, take your time and only sand back and forth lengthwise.   

I restored mine many years ago - used a sanding block with very fine sandpaper to restore the finish and then used a small artist brush with flat black model paint to paint the inside of the letters / numbers.  Looked like new again.

I have had a couple of sets of BFG T/A's on my OE 66 10 spokes and have never had this issue.  Has anything changed design wise with new tires in recent years ?

I do not believe this car was listed for sale at the auction - just on display from what I saw and info on the auction site. 

I refinished the inside corner pieces on my 70 Cougar vert (where the top clips in on both sides) with Krylon Original Chrome, and was very pleased with the satin finish. 

A new high experienced by me today - not a good high.  I'm with the family on a ski trip on the mountains of British Columbia, Canada.  I paid $2.02 Cdn a litre for 91 octane for my daughter's car this morning.  If my math is correct, that adjusted for the # of litres in the US gallon and converted to $US = $6.03 US per US gallon !!   

Went on one of those party bikes a few years ago in Savannah GA.  Great fun !

The Texas wildcatters that ushered in America's shale revolution are resisting the temptation to pump more oil as the market rallies, signaling higher gasoline prices for consumers already battered by the worst inflation in a generation.

Crude prices hurtling toward US$100 a barrel typically would spark a frenzy of new drilling by independent explorers in shale fields from the desert Southwest to the Upper Great Plains -- but not this year. Influential players like Pioneer Natural Resources Co., Devon Energy Corp. and Harold Hamm's Continental Resources Inc. just pledged to limit 2022 production increases to no more than 5 per cent, a fraction of the 20 per cent or higher annual growth rates meted out in the pre-pandemic era.

The timing couldn't be worse for consumers. Outside of OPEC, which has rejected U.S. President Joe Biden's pleas to accelerate production increases, domestic shale fields are the only other source of crude that can quickly respond to supply shortfalls. Together with fast-rising global consumption, American drillers' conservatism is likely to keep oil prices elevated for some time to come. 

"Whether it's US$150 oil, US$200 oil, or US$100 oil, we're not going to change our growth plans,'' Pioneer Chief Executive Officer Scott Sheffield said during a Bloomberg Television interview. "If the president wants us to grow, I just don't think the industry can grow anyway.''

To be sure, U.S. oil output will rise substantially this year and is forecast to return to pre-pandemic levels by 2023. But it probably won't be enough to knock oil prices off their upward trajectory any time soon.

Same increase in prices in Canada, European countries etc.  Not sure any Pres / leader in any country can be that influential, but that's just me.  World increases in the price of oil is driving the majority of increases from what I've seen.   

Looks somewhat like an old style faucet / tap washer.  Maybe you can find something like that in a hardware plumbing section.

My wife gave mine its pet name - The Mistress - and way less expensive than the real thing. 

Every time I go into the garage and see it covered up there in hibernation until spring, and wish I could drive it.
