The movie is doing all kinds of interesting promotions and they coordinated a display of a few Shelby's and Ford GT's on the mall at UT.  Jimmy Fallon was there filming for the tonight show and drove one of the cars.  Here are a few pics

My car was restored by a Shelby expert.  It may not be correct but it was painted satin black and looks good to me.

Hey Eric,
Congratulations!  Think less of you - Hardly!  You might as well add a red 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6  to that collection!  One of my favorites!
Here is a picture board on #508 for more info.  It is a beautiful car.
Ron
Thanks for posting that photo of the display board.

In looking closely at this car there were a lot of questions in my mind.  It says that it was a factory AC car but the power steering pulley was not the right one and the compressor was clearly an aftermarket radial.  I think it was converted -- there was no Marti Report to verify if it was a unicorn.  It says that it was a 427 car but the engine was not a 1967 427 as the casting was not correct and it looks like a much later block.  I suspect that the dash in the car is from another 1967 Mustang that had AC.  Also, the fiberglass on the car looked like it was all reproduction.  With that said the paint on this car was outstanding and you have to like the parchment interior.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Power Steering Pump Belt
May 13, 2019, 10:50:57 PM
Guys, I have a late 1967 GT500 with AC, Power Steering and a one pulley alternator.  It has the correct 7AC pulley on the power steering pump.  I am trying to locate the correct (reproduction) belt for the power steering pump.  I have a Gates belt on it right now but the belt that Branda shows is too short.  I have tried several other Branda belts with no success.  Anyone know what the part number is for the right belt?

I don't want this group to think less of me but the red 1963 Corvette split window coupe was mine as well.  For reasons I did not entirely understand the other 1967 was in the Mustang Coral.  I have no pics of that car and it was pretty far off the path

I used Eric at Vintage Muscle Car Parts and he did a great job.  Not only does the car now run perfectly but his cosmetic restoration made the carbs look brand new.  Not cheap but worth it.

No, but one is owned by Dennis Flolo and the other is owned by Jon Hodges both of whom are local Houston guys.  I don't know if they are ever on the Forum because they are both collectors of multiple brands.  With that said, Jon Hodges had several cool cars there such as what looked to me to be a perfect 1965 Shelby, an ultra fresh 1969 Boss 9 (won best Mustang which was not in the Shelby class), and a survivor 1953 Corvette.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Keels and Wheels 2019

I know that my car is certainly not MCA perfect but last weekend at Lakewood Yacht Club's Keels & Wheels Shelby was the honored marque again.  There were four 67's, two 68's and one 65.  There were no pigs there and all of the cars were nicely presented.  Here are a few pics:

Ok, for the idiots like myself.  I sent my carbs off to be restored on the 67 GT500.  I have done lots of single Holleys but never a set up with two.  I need to set them back up from scratch.  Any tips?

These cars are coveted primarily by the guys who are baby boomers and I am in that group.  A lot of baby boomers are now starting to move their money to retirement.  Look at prices for 57 T -Birds which are now worth much less than the cost of the restoration.  I think that Shelby prices are not going to tank but I also doubt that there is much serious appreciation left in these.

Just by comparison my 2005 Ford GT which cost $162K in 2005 is now probably a $300K car or better and there is a lot of buyers for them.  Similarly my BMW Z-8 which I bought used 15 years ago for $85k is probably around $200K.  My 1963 Split Window which is NCRS correct is probably $130K car all day long and I bought it five years ago for $130K and then spent $55K to get the paint/chrome right.

That is why I drive my 1967 GT500, keep it shiny, and keep myself prepared that it may only be a $100K car despite having paid a lot more than that for it.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Rolled fenders?

Mine has rolled fenders and whether they were done at the factory or the backyard doesn't matter much to me.  Now that the prices of our cars are softening up the difference between a concours car and a shiny restoration may be less relevant.  I was at Mohegan Sun yesterday and a nice driver 1967 GT500 with parchment interior sold for $85K (with rolled fenders).

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Carburetor Restoration
June 14, 2018, 10:42:19 PM
My two carbs on my GT500 appear to be original and unrestored but I have noticed that some seepage of fuel is starting to appear around the shafts.  The seepage is enough that it is leaving some fuel staining on the intake manifold underneath each carb shaft.  Surprisingly the car runs very well but I am probably living on the edge driving it with this situation.  I need to pull the carbs and send them somewhere to be restored.  Who would you recommend?

Car 2714.  Only owned for a couple of years but I have had several since 1982.

Dennis lives down in Clear Lake and I think he is in Space City Cruisers
