1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Rear Brake Self Adjuster Question
« on: April 11, 2023, 05:38:20 PM »
I'm finally getting around to doing the rear brakes on my '66 and have a question regarding the rear self adjusters.  The hardware kits come with a washer which I know they should.  The kit I have for the left driver side has a curved spring loaded washer while the kit I have for the right side contains a flat washer.  Is it correct to have 2 different types?  The old adjuster from the left, which is the side I'm working on, has no washer at all!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Services Offered / California License Plate Service
« on: December 01, 2022, 02:59:05 PM »
I used this gentleman's services to have my white, personalized Calif. license plates switched over to the black/yellow style plates from the 60's.  This color style plate was not available from the DMV when I originally ordered my plates. It is now available and is known as a Legacy plate.  They are nice plates but the font for CALIFORNIA is not quite the same as the originals.  I decided to have mine redone using this service and am very, very pleased with the results.  The font is correct and they look just as if they've been repainted.  Coloring is spot on.  The work is outstanding!  Fortunately my plates were in excellent condition to begin with which makes the process easier.  He is unable to do any out-of-state plates due to lack of appropriate software.  Just thought I would pass this on in case anyone with Calif. plates is interested.  One can contact him for info regarding his services.

Here's my latest flea market find.  Poster measures 37" x 22-1/2" and is in good condition with just some edge wear (which I can hide when framing).  I really like the various portraits.

Appeals / Car Transport from Brooklyn NY to SF Bay Area
« on: May 26, 2022, 10:13:38 PM »
Our daughter and family will be relocating from Brooklyn, NY back to the SF bay area (Petaluma, CA) within about a month.  I'm looking for a recommendation for a reputable (and reasonable} car transport company to help get their SUV back to the bay area.  An open carrier is preferred to keep the costs down.  Any leads would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much!

Here's a 1968 Shelby ad that I came across from Nagle Ford in Rochester, NY.  It appears to be on a page from a Spencer Speedway (Williamson, NY) program from 1967.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / 1958 Hertz Rental Car Wall Clock
« on: May 02, 2022, 08:27:31 PM »
I saw this on eBay and placed a late bid in hopes of adding it to my garage wall.  I won the auction right before leaving on a 9 day vacation to visit our grandkids.  This was waiting for me upon our arrival back home.  It's from 1958 and is complete with the outer glass cover.  There is a partial crack on the inner glass HERTZ plate which is only noticeable at certain angles.  It utilizes a Pam clock that keeps perfect time!  All I did was remove the outer stainless ring to clean and polish.  I bought a couple of socket adapters to enable use of the smaller night lite style bulbs.  I wound up using 2 x 10watt LED bulbs which run super cool and provide plenty of light.  I was very happy to find one of these clocks.

Vintage Shelby Related Literature and Collectibles / FoMoCo Metal Sign Find
« on: February 21, 2022, 10:29:18 PM »
I generally visit the swap meets or flea market on the weekends always looking for something that I don't really need.  I'm usually on the lookout for vintage tube radios and vintage automotive related items.  I love the element of surprise and not knowing just what I'll come across.  Our flea market is pretty small now as we lost our previous venue which was a very large parking lot.  This makes the pickins even slimmer!  I went there yesterday and was on my last run when I noticed several metal signs leaning up against the legs of one of the tables.  They were all, except for one, the $9.99 type of tin sign that's made to look vintage with the typical "rust" around the edges.  But one caught my eye.  It was a FoMoCo sign that was larger than the rest (18" x 13-1/2"), was 2-sided, heavier than most (2 lbs), and had eyelets in the upper 2 holes.  I already have a repo that's the same style and size but is lighter (1lb 10oz), one-sided, has no eyelets, and the method of painting is different.  The one I just purchased has a very nice shine to it.  It was painted red first then the white was done over that.  It does have some scratches and dings but no rust.  I was able to buy it for the price of a cheap tin sign. One can't have too many Ford signs (contrary to what my wife thinks!).  I did some internet research and I'm pretty sure that the one I purchased is an original.  Are there any vintage sign experts here that can provide some input?  Much appreciated!    Craig R.
