Thanks again, Dan!
I do have a couple of insights that you might be interested in as far as the choke housing casting. I'll email you regarding this.

Hi Dan,

Emailed would be great, thank you. The carb in question is for a later 1964 production 289 Cobra, C30F AJ.

The carburetor body has not been media blasted in any way. I corrected the gasket, the secondaries would have had a hard time getting a vacuum signal, thank you Charles.

Concours Talk / Autolite 4100 HIPO carburetor
October 10, 2020, 01:39:02 AM
I was restoring a C30F AJ Autolite 4100 carburetor for a project in the shop and I wanted to get opinions on the plating colors we used to restore the carburetor with. It would be nice to have this kind of info on the "Concours" page but I couldn't find any. Anyway feel free to blast away if you see a discrepancy.

I know this topic is old but....

While disassembling CSX2416 for it's restoration I found a 1964 penny in the bottom of the pedal box.

DWATHEN,

Do you remember who you ordered your Denso tape from? I have tried several vendors and have come up no joy on the color even though it was specified. Thank you and I hope you are enjoying 2367!

It's a Cobra wheel hub drive pin, used on competition 260/289 Cobras and all 427 Cobras for pin drive type wheels.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: GT500 Broken dipstick

You've been lucky so far that it has not destroyed your engine.
I knew a guy with a 1967 GT500 that had a dipstick break and the stick ended up getting wrapped around the crankshaft..........bye bye FE.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: 289 hipo roller rockers
August 03, 2020, 06:02:59 PM
I used Comp Cams full roller rockers, the rockers fit under the standard steel covers. The poly locks were an issue until I machined part of the hex nut off of the poly lock body. They have worked perfectly ever since.

Per the Allen Grant photo, George Lucas in the white jacket, not CS on the fender, not sure who else is in the photo but they may be related to Coventry Motors?

So here's my question, what is going to be acceptable in the eyes of the SAAC Judges when it comes time for a leaf spring Cobra to be judged at a show?

I have acquired front and rear NOS leaf springs for a small block Cobra with factory wrapping that have been wrapped in plastic for decades. Upon unwrapping these springs I have noted that the color of the wrap is closer to a brown rather than the green which seems to be the accepted color of the wrap today. I do realize because of the sticky surface of the wrap that given time and exposure to road grime that the spring wrap will attract during daily use that the color will change. I also have an original spring that was removed from another chassis that retains it's original wrapping with road grime in place, it is very similar to Earl's example.
Please see examples...the top photo being the NOS wrap, the next being the currently accepted wrap and the final two phots being the original wrap with road grime.
