Parts For Sale / Show Tire Covers
February 07, 2023, 02:16:30 PM
These are some cool tire covers that I bought about 20 years ago from Ford guy extraordinaire Dave Riley. Dave had canvas covers made up for his Boss 302 with NOS F60 15 tires. He would roll the car on the covers so that no grass ,rocks or debris would get into the tread. He had extras made up which I bought a set. They have draw strings in the back so although they were made for the F60 15 tires they will work equally well on any of the 15 inch 65,66,67 or 68 Shelby narrower tires . 225.00 shipped to your US address. PayPal friends and family only please. click on my name and PM me for any questions. Thank you for looking.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234866680986    is the auction. Let me simply say that they are not even 65-70 Mustang shocks let alone any year Shelby shocks

A auction on Ebay shows a wood handle said to be original which can mean many things. The auction handle is not original assemblyline IMO. The assemblyline wooden auto handles had the wood routed out for the snake to sit recessed in the wood. I have seen ones like the auction handle before. This is most likely one of the plain wooden handles (there were many different auto wooden handles that were over the counter) non assemblyline after market or owner modified. It is a early style wood handle with the set screw in the early placement but Ford was selling the plain handles then too.  I have a bag of the individual small snake emblems like used on the handles that I have sold over the years . If I had them I am sure others have too. The snake appears to have been glued on one of the plain wooden knobs. Expect push back from informed enthusiasts or if in concours on authenticity from a well informed judge.    https://www.ebay.com/itm/265997410582

Disregarding the buy it now price the description is deceiving.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/195326168926    I don't know if the seller is deceptive on purpose ,lack of knowledge or a little of both. Ether way it is a bad deal for anyone wanting a correct date coded carb for their 65 or 66 carryover as the title implys . I have contacted this seller before about incorrect descriptions with no change on the sellers part so I didn't waste my time. The description is correct except that by Sept 3 1965 all of the 65 GT350's would have been produced engines installed and all of the 66 GT350's using the 65 bodies (carryovers) would have been produced  engine . Sept 3 1965 is after regular 66 production had already started. Also the logistics of getting the carb from Holley to the engine would push the date it was mated to a engine/car even further. That date code carb is for a early regular production GT350 and not a 65 or 66 carryover.

Up For Auction / New "exact" repro 66 tach . not
August 31, 2022, 03:26:50 PM
I wanted to bring this to anyone's attention that may be searching for a 66 GT350 tach. If you want one that will pass for a original this is not it.  I don't think Branda has a dishonest intent just a lack of awareness of differences. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234679419819  The needle is a very visible difference IMO. I am reposting a comparison picture Cory posted recently to help see the difference. The  4 wire installation is another easy repro tell. No wire on a original 66 goes out to coil, green or otherwise. I sent a note to Anthony at Branda to maybe modifying the description. Branda Performance is a very valuable part of our Shelby marque community IMO.

Concours Talk / 65-70 Shelby Autolite Sparkplugs
August 24, 2022, 09:59:16 AM
Someone asked so I thought I would post for reference . 65-68 GT350 used BF32 from the factory . 69/70 GT350 used BF 42. 67 GT500 used BF 42 . 68-70 GT500 used BF32. The star symbol on the Autolite plug was typically seen on 65 through 67 . 68 -70 typically did not have the star on the Autolite plug. I hope this helps.

All 67 and 68 Shelby speedometers came with trip odometer. Seller is taking standard speedometers without trip and refacing them then claiming they are for 67 68 Shelby. Seller has been advised of the misinformation in the past.  With no regard for the facts the seller is being deceptive on purpose.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/134167678029

Frequent ebay seller doesn't know what he doesn't know. Andrew from MagMustangs should know better. He has a fuel pump that he claims is a NOS late 67 GT500 fuel pump . Its biggest problem is that it is for a small block  and not a big block. The pump arm has a distinct shape that is different between big block and smallblock. Given the fuel pump is a re manufactured fuel pump most likely it was rebuilt with misc parts with no regards to what the flange number indicates. I used to try and give heads up to mistake this seller would make in a helpful way but smart ass reply's in the past indicated that I was wasting my time.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/154438496731  . Please be aware.

Buyer beware . The so called NOS 1967-1968 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY HEATER CONTROL VALVE in this auction is a used part that has had a half ass attempt to make it look new. It is also listed as a new part so there is no mistaking the meaning of NOS in the description . What with the appearance of the part ,the seller is ether clueless or trying to purposely perpetuating a fraud. It is one or the other.   https://www.ebay.com/itm/334420000134  .  The firewall side of bracket shows minor pitting corrosion of the metal which only shows up like that after bead blasting/surface stripping and with no zinc plating like original. There are also witness marks of the screw heads when the bracket was previously secured.  The brass body has a odd tint to it which may be a coating sprayed on . The steel vacuum diaphragm was originally zinc dichromate gold. This one looks like it may be painted to mimic the zinc dichromate.  A genuine NOS unit sells for 350-500.00 but this one if it holds vacuum , functions with the inside valve opening ,closing and is not corroded away would be far less not even close. I just didn't want someone here desperate for a NOS one to be fooled.

Concours Talk / 65/66 sway bar appearance
February 20, 2022, 10:12:39 AM
I had someone recently ask advice on the 65/66 sway bar appearance and since it is coming to show season I thought it would be helpful to give some insight into concours venue expectations. From the many survivor cars I have seen and NOS bars that I have had and presently have I have the point of view that the 65/66 sway bars were typically not painted. At least until more evidence suggests otherwise. It is a very dark oil quenched spring steel. You want it very dark almost black like it was originally .That is why it is confused with black paint so often. Don't sand it!! The surface is rough and not uniform smooth. Sanding will ruin that look. Chemically strip if painted to keep that from happening. Use your preferred a rust remover product to get rid of rust.  If already previously smoothed out then you will have to think outside the box to come up with a proper approach for a faux finish.  Don't go by the area that is held in the bushing because it may get smoothed out from the action of movement in the bushing.  Gun blueing is one technique to get you closer . I have not been able to completely replicate the unpainted finish to my liking hopefully others can be more successful. I have been fortunate to have been able to use a NOS version when I have needed one. I typically do not deduct for painted in DIV II /MCA trailered but will if the surface is too smooth. I hope this helps.

Up For Auction / Bogus NOS Wiper Arms on ebay ?
February 18, 2022, 07:18:33 PM
NOS or used? You be the judge .  https://www.ebay.com/itm/393945259554 . The same seller has this next set for even more money and is even more deceptive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393945260901   . The second auction is even more money and more parts to be deceptive about. The so called NOS wiper arms have installed  autoparts store Trico replacement variety and refer to them as  "CORRECT NOS WIPER BLADES". Does this guy think really think his description is accurate or is he just hoping some naïve trusting soul will hit the buy it now? Sad.
